Older iPads are fine. My main iPad is a Mini 5 but I still have a Mini 4 from 2015 which I still use daily. It’s updated to the current iOS firmware and runs everything suitably well albeit a little slow. It’s the perfect device for media apps such as YouTube, Disney+ and Netflix as the video quality is the same as any other iPad. Web browsing is mediocre though as the ancient A8 processor is certainly showing signs of age.

currently in use: iPad Gen 6 base model, but that's just 4 years old.
still great form factor (way better than those current Pros)
but has gotten a bit sluggish at times since iOS 15.3 or 15.4

Still using an original iPad, though only for Bento - why did Apple kill it, it is so useful. My daily use iPad is the original Air, good for everything I need except for web browsing where the browser does not always handle 'modern' websites very well.

My parents are still using an iPad 5 and 6 respectively.

Probably until the things stop working

We have a iPad 5th generation still in use.

Guessing a lot of people here even have older ones!i
i was using ipad 5th gen since launch until like a month ago, the main reason for upgrade was that i had the 32gb version

Upto a month ago I was still happily using a mk1 iPad Air, owned since it was a year old. I upgraded it to the current iPad 9 because I wanted something current that will dock with my bedside Sony clock-radio with lightning port, and my spidey senses tell me the iPad 9 will be the last iPad with lightning connector. I've owned four iPads now and this iPad 9 is actually the first one I've ever bought new.

+1 for original Air. Upgraded wife's to Air 5 and gave old one to SIL, so I am using a "clean" Air 1 for band rehearsals when I need an extra part. Just using camera/photos. It works. Will eventually get a 12.9 for reading music.

Still love my 6th Gen which I have no plans to upgrade anytime soon, it’s my go to computer for everyday tasks.
I still have my Air 1 which is a bit slow and some of the apps don’t work but I use it for watching TV and such like.
Edit - As the 6th Gen was fitted into the same chassis as the Air 1 I am able to use the original keyboard case.

9.7" iPadPro from 2016. Still fine if not a bit slow, battery is ok, original Smart Keyboard sometimes disconnects due to wear on the contacts. I use it for consumption, browsing, recording video voiceovers with the VoiceMemo app, and Lightroom. I'll probably upgrade when the new ones are released, and if there is nothing mind-blowing about the M2s I'll get a then cheaper M1.

A launch day iPad 2 which is my radio shack clock. It's on 24/7.

iPad 4 Wi-Fi on iOS 10.3.3

Some sites no longer accessible with Safari and sites that are accessible are bombarded with ads, Adguard no longer available for install, will only work with 64bit devices...

Only wish I can still use YouTube on it... I cannot jailbreak it like in the old days since Cydia Impactor is no longer allowed to be used for non-developer accounts... Battery capacity still around 7500mAh as per Battery Life app from original 11000mAh, I think?
