Nope, the 3G/S lines were terribly designed. The 4 is closely behind the 2G as the best looking and feeling iPhone to date.

I'm with you there. The only reason, to me, anyone should prefer the body of the 3G/S is because they are 'used to it'. A lot of people are used to Windows XP too

I'm still using the 3GS and have had it since launch day. I like the looks and feel of it as well as the iP4. This 3GS has held up quite well and I've had no issues with it at all.

I fixed it for you.I like the feel of the 3GS, but the iP4 looks very slick. I'd probably put a nice yellow bumper on it though, to soften up all those hard edges:
Well I didn't mean like right this second but in the next coming months I do plan to have an iPhone of some sort. I like my droid but its slowed down and looks dated as hell and if there's one thing everyone agrees on about apple products is they don't get dated nearly as fast as other products. I see people with original iPhone's and they still look great albeit the first thought to my head is usually "How can they deal with the horrid speed of EDGE?

Personally I would rather have a dated iPhone than a dated other phone, iPhone is an iPhone...Wow my opinion seems to differ from everyone's except the OP. I liked the look/feel of the 3GS, despite the older technology, obviously. The iPhone 4 is more gorgeous and luxurious looking, but I don't care for the "boxy" feeling, though. I thought the original iPhone was hideous.
i like the iphone 4 design much better too. i don't like the curved backs like what the ipod touch has. it makes it hard to plug in the sync cable.
I think the 3G and 3GS was the least attractive and least durable. I just stopped using my 2G and am now using an iphone 4 -- I still think the 2G is the best design, except I'd remove the silly chrome bezel. It feels and is incredibly durable, feels nice in the hand and is more in keeping with Apple's other alu products. The iphone 4 is of course beautiful but it certainly doesn't sit as well in my hand and because of the glass it feels very fragile even if it might not be. I would never use the iphone 4 without a case.
So, no, I think the Iphone 4 looks better than the 3GS, and the iphone 2g represents the perfect blend of comfort and design/beauty. I hope they go back to alu backs with the iphone 5!

UMMMM no! iPhone 4 is a work of art and the 3GS is a plasticy piece of junk. Even the original iPhone was better made then the 3G or 3GS.

It is so freaking easy and cheap to replace the back of the iphone 4 with something made of metal... or anything else you are looking for.
