It just looks messy to me and I can't figure out why. Not sure if it's the notch or the fact that it's not truly edge-to-edge or what, but I just don't think it looks that great. I think the iPhone 8 looks gorgeous. Even if it's an old design, the glass back makes it look really pretty imo. I think Samsung's Infinity Display phones (S8, S8+, Note 8) look better too. I like the symmetry and the way the screen flows over the sides of the device is stunning. Too bad it's running Samsung software. I just am not feeling the design of the X and was wondering if anyone else was feeling the same.

Even though I want the x I do agree that it’s hideous compared to Samsung. It looks toy-ish and the gigantic camera on the back is disgusting.

Yes. Ugly and too small. However, if they make a version of it next year that is the size of the Plus and has the appearance of the notch eliminated, then I will be all over it.

The tech impresses me a bit the design...less so. I think they were trying to do a throw back to the classic iPhone at least on the front. But the camera drives me bonkers. I just don't like that bump. Never had and never will.

It is not one of Apple's finest designs… That notch is an inelegant solution — not saying they had much choice — but it is a distraction.
Still, for me, it is just a tool, and as long as it does what it is supposed to it will be fine.

Some don't like it, some do. It's definitely a polarizing design. There are threads like this almost every year though (even the 4 and 5 were deemed ugly by many) and then later on, people love them. Apple is gambling a bit, but it looks like it will pay off as many people seem to be waiting for the X. It's funny though, in real world scenarios (basically everyone I know personally plus 75 people in my workplace), no one cares about phones like I and many people on here do.

Sure is. The notch and a protruding camera just make this one of the worst designed phones by Apple.

Most people should not like it. But I think its the "I got to have the newest" way of thinking that keeps this going.

This is a Huge disappointment for a 10th anniversary phone, and I do believe that Steve Jobs would never have released this model.

I think its the best looking iPhone after the iPhone 4. The 5 and the 6/7/8 got nothing on this device.

Someone hasn't noticed half the rage threads on here.

The lack of a home button makes it look... not like an iPhone. I know, I’ll just have to get used to it, seeing as this phone is ‘the future’ and all. I’m just gunna be happy with my 8 with TouchID for now. ;)

Nah, I haven’t been browsing much on this section. I did skim through to see if there were any immediate threads about this before I made it, but didn’t see anything.

I've been a dedicated Apple fan since about 2006 and have only bought and used iPhones since the 3G was released. I really think the X is nothing special looking at all. The notch is definitely fugly looking to me, and even though it has no bezels, the screen is still surrounded by metal trim (compared to the Samsung phones with the curved screen whatever they are). Those Samsung phones look stunning, but I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole (Android OS is a dog).

So, I'll be sticking with my trusty old iPhone 6 for now. It's running iOS 11 nicely and does everything I need. I wouldn't mind a bit more power and a better camera though... But I can handle waiting till next year and see what's available then.

It's not an attractive design when put side to side with say LG V30, Samsung Note 8 or Galaxy S8. It somehow doesn't look as consistent on the front and transitioning to the back. Maybe seeing it in person it looks better.

the notch is bothersome and will test my OCD...but i'm still getting it. other than that i think the phone looks great.

Mate, improvements in camera tech mean the bump has to be there.

If you don't mind a slightly thicker device, buy a slim case & jump on board. :D
Whenever I say that, there's always someone to point out camera improvements to me! I don't agree, but that is beside the point.

I don't need that. If I did need it, it might be easier to swallow. But since I do not I won't be buying.

As I have mentioned many times, 99% of my pictures are product shots at the grocery store so my wife can decide what she wants me to bring home to her. The other 1% are screen caps to post here on MR.

As far as cases…I do not use them.

No worries bud. So long as you're not feeling you're missing out because of an 'annoyance' that can be easily nullified.

I don't feel I'm missing out. I just have an opinion about what I like and what I do not.

This year (as in last year) Apple and I do not see eye to eye. I don't hate these new phones, but as many people have said recently in many threads, "If you don't like it, don't buy it". So that's my solution this year.

As far as "easily nulllified" I assume you mean cases. And that's a whole other argument that's been hashed out many times here.

I come down squarely on the side of those do not not and will not use cases.

In any case, was just registering my opinion. Everyone is free to do what they like and if they like the phone then by all means get one. I'm not one to force my personal opinions on other people's decisions.
