Anyone else thinks the watch is too pretty to use for the gym?

Get what you like. The "Sport" is just a marketing name. The watch is merely cheaper and slightly lighter than the SS. It is not otherwise any more suitable for fitness activities than the SS.
I've got a SS with BSB that I use at the gym every day. I also leave it on when I shower after my workout. I was a touch nervous the first time I had a go with it but now I don't even think twice about it. The band has been amazingly comfy, whether I'm at the gym or not, to the point that I cancelled my extra band order and will just use the BSB band all the time. And using the watching to control music while working out has been a plus as well. Do whatever works best for you but I have no problem really putting this watch through its paces to see just what it can do.
Call back lol. I still have one my 6th Gen Nanos in a Lunatik case. I loved that thing. I just wished it would show actual notifications on my wrist.

FWIW, I do use my Apple Watch at the gym. I bought the Sport model so I don't have to do any band swapping, the Sport band is just ready to go. Monday is the day I really push myself, and it got pretty sweaty yesterday (eww). When I got home I just followed Apple's instructions for cleaning the Watch body and just ran my Sport band underwater. No problems and I love it. Make it super easy for changing music and responding to texts while working out.
