I am for now :D

While assessing whether or not to upgrade to 10.5, whether to wait it out for eBay deals on a 10.5 keyboard if I do keep it, and local stores don’t have any in stock looks like either anyways

Don’t really want to shell out $159, and have gotten used to the “cramped” keyboard over the past few months so its not like a new keyboard experience or anything

I am currently because my SKB won't be here until Friday. I hate it for sure. I hate that it looks terrible with it not covering the entire screen, and the sleep wake feature isn't working. Bugs the crap out of me.

I am until the local stores get inventory. I'm used to the size so it's no problem when I have it on the desk. It is horrible when I fold it up to cover the 10.5 because it's ill fitting. It neither lines up correctly nor locks the screen.

Having to replace the keyboard was one of the biggest negatives against upgrading from the 9.7 for me. A $150 accessory should last more than one generation.

It honestly just makes me doubtful the Smart Keyboard, however much one may like it, is a smart investment at all

Even retaining 10.5 for Pro gen 3 in 2018 or whenever, if its a legitimately improved ASK (multiple recline positions with keyboard, more sturdy base to use on lap, maybe backlit and/or function keys) that’ll be even more of feeling hosed

Apple is treating ASK like on par of having to have the latest iPhone :D

I sold my 9.7" Smart Keyboard with my 9.7" Pro, because I was able to get the 10.5" keyboard in the initial shipment--just got it from FedEx about an hour ago. I have to say, I'm not perceiving the keyboard size to be a huge difference. The new screen size makes a VERY big difference, but the 10.5" keyboard just seems slightly more spaced out and comfortable. I'll need to do some more long form typing on it before I give a final verdict. The way I look at it is that any increase in size on the keyboard is a benefit over the 9.7". I was pretty fast on that model, but it could get uncomfortably cramped after awhile.

Also keep in mind that the 9.7" keyboard will not cover the 10.5 properly and is likely to flop around a bit.

I agree the screen seems more of the upgrade then the keyboard.

I hear you. Improving the next version is one thing but changing the fit/size so the old version loses some functionality is what smarts.

The old version actually doesn't lose functionality--YOu can still use it with the 10.5". It just looks bad and doesn't fully function the way it's supposed to when closed.

Apologies - I should have said loses some functionality. I have been using the 9.7 keyboard for the last 24 hours.

I've already been to the Apple Store once today to check for 10.5 ASK inventory. They were out this morning, but they just popped up for in store pickup luckily at the store closest to my office. I'll have it this evening.

I remember when I first got my 9.7" Pro--I had waited about a week after launch to order it, and there were no 9.7" ASK's left in stock. I had to wait about 2 weeks to get mine. It was agony. To me, it just doesn't seem like a shiny new iPad Pro without a shiny new (or rather, bland charcoal gray) ASK to go with it.
