Yes, I've wanted a larger screen iPad since I bought my iPad1 on launch day a year and a half ago.

The current size is an ok compromise but it's neither ideal for on the move (too large) or relaxing at home watching films/playing games (too small)

I'm sure in time, eventually we will see other sizes, just as we do with laptops and iMacs.

If not from Apple, then from other brands.

For watching a movie, Playing a game, or reading a magazine whilst relaxing at home a larger screen would be much nicer.

For on the move, of course not.

One size cannot be ideal for every scenario.

We already had this, the JooJoo which was once supposed to be the "iPad killer," a title that got passed to Notion Ink Adam and then later Motorola Xoom(and then people stopped using that phrase.)

This had a 12 inch notebook. Unfortunately the display quality was pretty dismal and it was in the awkward widescreen format.

The question, as usual is the pricing. Trying to match the iPad pricing is difficult enough with the 10" screen. Can they use a larger display produced in a smaller quantity and match the IPS/PLS quality?

I have made a few post on this already and yes, I'd love to have a 12" iPad especially with the Retina display. I do have a 13" Air which I love too but it's not touch screen and can't last 10 hr. To me, the touch screen and the long battery life are what make the iPads great. I don't understand why people think 12" is too big...what if apple comes up with a 12" edge to edge glass design? It shouldn't be that much bigger than the existing iPad form factor. :D

I agree. My gf doesn't think 12" is too big :D. She did at first but with some time and patience, we fixed that right up.

I would like an iPad that would allow me to resize the screen size
To suit the environment I'm using it in.

So sitting at home I could stretch it to 20"; when I get on a plane it could be 8"s.

yes, 12" or 13"

I think Apple should come out with something called the "iPad Pro", for use by engineers, CADCAM users, people who look at larger, detailed technical manuals - and musicians (that's my desires use!

With a retina display, all those pixels seems like too much for 10" screen; but would be fantastic on a 12" or 13" screen. Just reduce the bezel size, and the whole machine wouldn't be much larger than today's iPad.

I'd buy one immediately!

This thread is a good illustration of why the iPad is exactly the size it is. Some would like it a bit larger, some a bit smaller, but probably everyone on this thread purchased the current iPad.

From Apple's perspective that's perfect. Unless there is a substantial market niche that won't purchase the current size, Apple is better off saving the design, tooling, manufacturing, and inventory costs associated with adding other form factors.

If you consider the various factors involved, Apple did a brilliant job of selecting the size of the iPad. A 7" tablet is too large to carry in a pocket but bit too small to be easily viewed by a substantial portion of the market. (iPads sell VERY well to the 50+ crowd.)

A larger iPad would not only make it more unwieldy but make 2x iPod/iPhone apps less appealing. And its that vast library of such apps that contributes heavily to the iPad's huge app store inventory. Furthermore, a larger iPad screen would prompt more pressure for running multiple apps simultaneously, something that Apple would rather avoid for a number of reasons.

All in all, Apple chose a compromise in the hope of hitting (as another poster put it) the "sweet spot" among consumers. They were right on it appears. And I strongly suspect that a LOT of consumer research went into that choice.

The current size is definitely the sweet spot. I have a MBP 13" and I can't imagine holding that thing as a tablet, it's way too big. I've seen the 7" playbook and galaxy tab and they seemed too small.

I also need a larger IPAD

I love my ipad so much. I haven't printed any PP for classes for like 3 semesters. I have a lot of class notes and some books. I wish the screen is closer to 11" range (vertical) to read more comfortably. I would use both sizes depending on the need. When I have to read a text book, larger model would allow me to quickly look at a lot more material and allow speedy reading. Other times i would use the current one.

What about an app that makes two iPads work together as a dual screen iPad. Maybe even have them share storage and processor?

I would love to have a larger one especially with the antiglare screen used on their MBP devices. The current model is just too small for me.

No, but I would like a narrower bezel to give me more screen real estate. The hardware itself needs to stay exactly the size it is now.

This. I'm not sure whether I want a larger screen or not, but seeing as the 5 will have a smaller bezel and overall size, it does strike me that the could extend the screen size within the current form factor for a delux model.

Hmmm....

I agree with improving and technology moving forward. But 100% not on this front. As a previous poster said, the current iPad hits the sweet spot in terms of size, any bigger and it just becomes plain impractical. If I'm brutally honest, being in public with the current iPad at times feels as if I'm carrying a slightly big product, but it tears up 7inch tablets in every other aspect apart from size. So I'm willing to deal with it.

although it would be cool to have a bigger ipad, I think apple hit it perfect with 9.7. Now the mini is also a pretty sweet size tho, but apple was just catching up at this point to the nexus 7/kindle fire market

12inch or 13inch with retina display with same weight as ipad2 will be perfect.
