I’ve had an Amazfit Band that I was trying out, and is essentially the same as Xiamoi Mi band. It’s ok for the price. I don’t believe Apple would ever go into that product category. Apple already has the Watch SE as their ‘budget’ option, and logistically it makes sense for their supply chain/parts usage. This is the same strategy they use for their iPhone. They already have the chassis of the SE from previous generations and reinvigorate it with the latest chip.

To make a new (cheaper) fitness band takes R&D, and who would they even market this to? They play in the higher price brackets, and that means a larger profit margin for Apple.

Apple's not interested in the low end of any market it's in; there's just not enough profit there. In this case, though, pretty much everyone has gotten out of the cheap fitness tracker business.

You might not remember Nike+, the FuelBand or the little sensor that went in your Nike trainers. Apple probably wouldn't be interested in a 1st party solution now for all the same reasons they weren't interested back then.

I started my own thread, but was directed over here. I agree 100% with the OP. We need a band/bracelet that contains all the fitness activity/workout sensors/functions in a small form factor. I like watches and want something I can wear with a tool/luxury watch.

I would like an Apple Fitness Tracker where it’s the same as Apple Watch but the only apps are fitness market apps, gps, and maybe music apps. I would want it to last for 5-7 days on a charge and has the find me option if you get lost. But I don’t care about seeing other app notifications. That is what my phone is for I don’t need to double up. Give the athletes something please!!!

That is neat! Almost enough to convince me that this idea could work.

Two things give me pause, however.

1. I have tiny wrists -- I wear the smallest size solo loop, and that's still a bit loose. This device looks longer than the Apple watch, am I right? I've seen these thin, long devices in stores before, and while I've never tried them on, I'm afraid they're too long to fit my wrist.

2. I really like having the activity circles on my watch face, to see at a glance where I am on completing my circles, and for that, I think a square-ish watch shape is better.

Also, I find it interesting that you say you don't like taking wearables on and off every day. I take my watch off every time I wash my hands -- I always manage to get it wet while washing hands, and I hate having wet watch on my wrist. So it doesn't bother me that I have to take it off every day to charge it, as I take it off several times a day any way. I've often wondered why charging the watch every day is a huge deal to some people, and you've given me a point of view I hadn't thought of before.
I take mine off when I go to the loo (number 2!)

Thought I was the only one who did this kind of thing.

Wishing you well.
