I know it is probably unlikely, but I worry that I will receive an iPhone X with dead pixels on the display. If that happens, who knows how long it would take for Apple to get a new one sent to me? All I can do is hope for the best and trust in Apple's quality standards.

If it's any indication,
I've owned and seen several OLED Samsung phones in recent years and none had dead pixels. I believe they catch this sort of thing at the manufacturing level these days. (But can be wrong 🙂 )

I would say the majority will not have issues with their launch day devices. However, Apple usually has replacement devices set aside for those who encounter issues with launch day devices. Even Apple stores will have some replacement units set aside for specific hardware issues.
