I've been enjoying my new MacBook Pro until a few days ago I noticed this...

The right hand side's seal makes complete contact, but on the left there is a fraction of a millimetre air gap between the display and the top case, which becomes more visible when light is shone through it.

I read from iFixit that the 2018 Pros have a thinner top case to shave off weight to compensate for the larger batteries, so I wonder if this might be related to that (e.g. it warps easily in a bag or something).

Please let me know whether yours exhibits this so I can decide whether to exchange! :)

I have a Late 2016 MacBook Pro 15 (the first model with Touch Bar). It did not originally do this, but I've noticed it happening now.

I haven't removed the computer from my office in a year. It's basically a desktop now. I've laid notepads and a set of headphones on the lid from time to time with it shut, but it absolutely should not warp under these conditions.

I'm not sure what's going on, but I'm gonna take it to an Apple Store while it's still in warranty. The unattractiveness of the lack of seal doesn't bother me, but I'm concerned it may be overheating or something if the metal is moving around.

I have a mid 2017 MacBook Pro 15 and mine did that when I left it in the car for 4 hours in -6 degree weather! The corners slowly went back down and it pretty much normal but not exactly flush. Hope this helps!

No gap, but then again, never gave enough of a crap to look for that.

You do you, boo boo. I wouldn’t think twice about that at all and just enjoy the computer.

Same issue here on a 2018 15 MBP, mine's about 4 months old now and I've noticed it since I bought it. I figure if it causes problems then I'll take it in under AppleCare

This seems to be something that was FAR more common on 2008-2015 models; in fact I'd say the majority of 2008-2015 models I've seen have kind of crappy gaps, or at least uneven, so I'm glad I lucked out with a really tight one on mine. But I wouldn't be happy with that, especially on a 2016+ model since I think Apple did a really nice job tightening that display/chassis gap on the 2016+ models.

Hello, I just received my new MacBook pro 13 2018 with the same "problem". I would like to know what you did in order to solve it (if you did). Also do you recommend me to try to fix it? Mine seems to work fine. It just doesn't close flush as expected.
