the reason i ask is my local library has tons of great movies that aren't available anywhere else
but many of them are a bit 'worse for wear', and a few have gotten stuck in my mini
to the point where i had to take the top off to eject the disc.

i'm looking at a new imac, and my fear is i get one stuck in it!

I believe a simple reboot will cause the DVD to eject. I think there might be something you have to click within system settings under the CD/DVD drive but I'm pretty sure it will just happen automatically.

Had that problem happen with our old imac a while ago - turned out to be the slot loading drive going wrong

go for the iMac! They're superb mine has on a couple of occasions had this issue really there are a few ways and one of these always works.

1. Click 'Eject' in iTunes or whatever program you're using (if any)
2. Type "ejectcd" into the Spotlight search and hit enter
3. Log out and log back in < Always works

iMac's are all built into one machine and this sometimes happens normally after burning a disc or ripping one, i've often pondered a minimilistic, little button for a manual eject maybe it's due next upgrade...
