I'm thinking of installing the FAH client for the GPU because I know the 8-series GeForces are amazing folders. I'm pretty sure an 8-series desktop folder would slaughter my ATI 4850 on my desktop, but I'm aware the 8600M GT is really slimmed down.

With that said, it's possible to do this right? (I'll use VMWare + Vista x64), and I'm curious if anyone is doing this and can give me some tips. Do I need special drivers?

Only the CUDA drivers from NVIDIA's site. I've been able to use some BOINC CUDA projects with my MBP (2.66 C2D w/ 9600GT and 9400M) with Vista x64 and then later on Win7 x64, just install the CUDA drivers.

The 8600MGT is prone to overheating and die.
Be sure u can have it repaired within extended warranty from apple if u plan to fold on it

Really really old post here...

But the new BOINC supports CUDA for OSX. Only a few projects supports CUDA in OSX though.

I don't think it will work in VMWare since the guest OS doesn't have direct access to the host GPU. VMWare has only limited graphics support, which makes it even less likely to work.

It should work in bootcamp, though.
