I doubt they'll even allow preorders until early tomo. I just have this weird feeling. Apple is mean like that. They also won't send those who preordered, the product ahead of the launch date, which makes no sense. That's the whole idea of preordering. To get it early. I shouldn't have to wait until next week to get it if i preorder. But Apple is messed up that way. Steve got his and that is all he cares about.

What???? YOU make no sense. One preorders an item so he/she will be guaranteed to HAVE it on launch day. You don't preorder to get it before launch, lol!

I'm usually up until 4 a.m. EST, so I'm going to try to land a white one through Apple. If not, I'll have to decide whether I want to wait or just get a black one.

Complete nonsense. You've got no clue at all...

I don't understand why people are rushing to preorder. It doesn't matter if you were to preorder 2 days from now, you're still getting it on the 24th.

I think most people equate inventory problems at local Apple/ATT stores with ordering from Apple.com. I don't blame them; we've been conditioned over the years to think that we need to get in line or there might not be enough to go around initially. This same idea of scarcity then extends to pre-orders.

If the iPad preorders started at 5:30am PST, why wouldn't they do the same for the iPhone?

The only reason I could think of to change it up is if Apple thought the pre order demand was going to be really high for this iphone. With the ipad it was a completely new device, and not everyone was sold on it initially. I think Apple may be worried that if they announced a specific time for the iphone 4 pre order that the servers might be flooded and overrun. So maybe they plan a very quiet midnight or early morning launch where the number of people jumping online to order is gradual, rather than having a herd of people lining up for a predetermined time such as 5:30AM pacific time.

With Apple Pre-Orders, Do you have to pay for the phone to be able to pre-order?

Is it really going to make that big of a difference if you pre-order at Midnight tonight (an hour from now) or midnight tomorrow night?

It's not like they're going to run out of phones within the first couple hours .. right .. RIGHT? Lol.

The thing that concerns me is the apparent problem with the supply of white iPhones. That's what I want, so I'm gonna preorder as soon as is humanly possible.

I don't think people are afraid of them running out. It's just the anticipation of it. We are ready now! :p

I live in Mountain Standard but I have been on assignment shooting a book since late April so of course on a humid New York City day my 3G starts acting weird...I think it knows it is being replaced...:)

I just want to get mine ordered and out of the way for when I go back on the road full time mid July, I'll check at midnight.

3 or 6 am EDT is my guess

I work for a company that is provides a website for car dealerships, now go with me on this. whenever we do change control it starts at @ 3am and generally is supposed to finish at 5 then there is testing that can take up to 2 hours so the store based on past releases will probably go down between 5 and 6 am eastern (i would say EST but then 12 people will say wait aren't we on EDT) when you look at your clock on and it works out to 5 or 6 eastern look for it to come down, and back up between 8 and 9 am eastern so trying to order at midnight is probably not an option. providing there are no issues.

I'll be ordering sometime tomorrow whenever I get around to it. It doesn't really matter. If Apple sells out of preorders within 1 day then this release will be a huge failure. They aren't dumb. Preorders will last a few days at the very minimum.

I don't understand why people don't understand the concept that pre-ordering first != getting iphone first. Nor will they sell out of pre-orders within a few hours.

I feel like if they dont announce it by midnight PST, they wont until tomorrow morning and it will start at like 5PM.

I totally agreed with you guys last year, until people who were first to preorder started getting theirs early.

You never know..
