I had read somewhere that the speakers were the same in the M4 vs M5. You are saying they are not? Has that been confirmed anywhere?I am returning my 256 13 M5 for a 1TB 13 M4. And not it's not a mistake.
For me the tipping factor was the worse speakers (although the M5 ones are more than fine for most people), 12GB RAM would have been enough (8GB weren't), but at that point I'll gladly take the additional 4GB and more storage too. In exchange I gave up cellular since I am keeping my cellular 12.9 M2 for trips.
PS got the (new) 1TB M4 wifi for $100 more than the base M5 cellular
I am saying that I still have both (will be returning the M5 next Monday) and that the M4 is louder. I have no idea if they are the same and tuned for lower volume on the M5, or different, but the volume is clearly different. Apple never said that the M1 was louder than the 2018 or 2020 pro, but it was louder and fuller. The difference between M4 and M5 is not as big, but is clearly there. I have compared them many times and not a sigle time I said they are the same, or I have doubts. I posted a video recently in one of my comments by the way (comparing M1, M2, M4 and M5)I had read somewhere that the speakers were the same in the M4 vs M5. You are saying they are not? Has that been confirmed anywhere?
So far I have no reason to return mine. had no reason to max out the speakers so far while watching streams because I don't like my ears bleeding, loud enough at 2/3.
Only thing that bothers me a bit is that this is the first time that i experience some kind of mild pwm sensitivity, was never aware before that I am. but looking at that screen at lower brightness settings for sure strains my eyes a bit. but not enough to return it.
I guess I already found a use case where I benefit from the faster SSD speeds of the 512GB. I use QField for QGIS and my project ist 9gb large because of very large georeferenced tiff aerial images. I'm really impressed how fast those load, almost instant.
i had selected "more space" on initial setup, gone back to standard and now I have no problems with eye strain anymore. so it was not pwm sensitivity, phew![]()
For what it’s with, manual adjustment kicks the iPad to 1000 nits in testing: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Apple...hter-slimmer-and-lightning-fast.842302.0.htmlHow is this possible? The M4 and M5 iPad pros only go up to 600 nits when using manual brightness settings. M1 iPad Pro goes up to the same, 600 nits. Have to have the iPad with adaptive brightness and it will go up to 1000 nits but only when outside.

Showcasing a smaller bright area goes up to 1600 nits; a full white image was just about 1000 on m4/m5 vs just over 500 on the air
Oh this is interesting. So you actually can manually adjust the M4 Pro to 1000nits? I wonder why the Toms review said it only goes up to 600nits on manual adjustment and to get 1000 nits it must have adaptive brightness on.
I don't believe there is any adjustment to manually set to 1000 nits. I owned the M4 Pro and now the M5 - it can only be triggered by conditions such as external lighting, content, etc.
I upgraded to the iPP M5 13” from the iPP 11” 2020 and I am delighted with this thing. Initially I tried to go with the 13” IPA M3, but I just couldn’t go backwards from Promotion. It’s lightning fast, the screen is gorgeous and the thinness/weight are wonderful. I keep my devices for years, and I’m going to be gazing happily at this one far into the future.I have the iPP 11” from 2020 and am looking at upgrading to the M5. My battery health is below 80%, and I do see the device slowing a bit. For anyone else who’s upgraded from the 2020 model, is it worth the upgrade?
