i played with a new 17" about an hour ago at the local apple store at willow bend mall.

the screen resolution really makes a big difference. i can't wait until i get my 17"!!!!!!!!! i was drooling all over it. the girl that worked that said she bought one today and was wishing she could go home so she could start playing with hers. of course, i had to brag and tell her "well, i did the BTO earlier today with the 7200rpm hard drive."
but yeah, i am REALLY wanting my 17" now. mmmmmmmmm

Bought my 15" last night. I am loving it so far.

I've given in an decided to buy a new 15" PowerBook, the only question being what hard drive to get: 100GB 7200RPM or 120GB 5400RPM. It seems like a lot of people are going for the 7200RPM model. Why? Does anyone have a link to an article comparing the two drive speeds? The reason I ask is not because 20GB matters all that much to me now, but because a few years ago I went for a 60GB rather than an 80GB and now I'm regretting it. 20GB isn't a big deal now, but it might be later. So the real swing vote here is speed. How big of a boost would I get? I'm really on the fence on this issue.

I would highly recommend the 7200rpm for speed. it willd ecreas your battery life by about 5%, but you'll notice the speed boost from the 5400rpm drive. One of the biggest bottlnecks in computing is hard drive speed. Thats why cache and memory speed is so import, and also why 10k rpm drives have become so popular. Loading things will be a lot faster and the cmoputer in general will be more snappier. Of course you could go for the 5400 drive, but the 7200 is well worth it IMHO

yeah, i went with the 7200 for performance. 20gb isn't much these days. 7200rpm is.
Faster is definitely better. You could always obtain an external hard drive, if needed. The amount specified should get you by. What do you indend to use it for?
I blew off these updates until i saw the review of the new powerbook, wow they really did make the screens brighter and added alot of landscape for the desktop, i hope all of you enjoy it!!
