Anyone getting advertisement SMS on iphone?

I got a text message at 3AM this morning about mortgages. It was an advertisement from a local phone number (same area code as me).

Is anyone else getting these? Of all the years I've owned my moto razr on verizon, I have never received an advertisement text message.

I was wondering if this was common on the iphone, and how I could block these messages or stop them.

Have you added any apps that asked for your phone number? Such as Live Poker for Zynga?

when you get your AT&T bill, check and see if you have any extra charges. it sometimes happens if you download ringtones.

Are there any apps that will let you block certain numbers from calling you on iPhone? ATT of course.
