What time would you suggest getting to Ala Moana? My plan was going to AT&T Kapolei at like 4am since it's right where I live, but that might change now with reports of little 6 Plus and already a line.

Last year (with everyone pining for the gold 5S) there were about 10 people by 10PM, 20 by midnight, maybe 30-40 by 2-3 AM, and then by 6 AM, about 100. By opening at 8 AM, the line wrapped so far around Macy's I never saw the end of it, like 200-300 people.

If you really want a 6 Plus, I'd get in line as early as possible. Be prepared for mall security to kick you out around midnight, but people are courteous and have a good idea who was in what part of the line.

I agree, with the carrier, model, storage, and color variations this information should be readily available and you shouldn't be forced into buying the wrong storage or color just to get the phone!

There's a solution to this horribly oppressive and unfair practice in deception and cruelty:

Don't line up

Order, or wait, and get what you want.

By waiting until the last minute, that's the price you pay. Don't want to? You are PERFECTLY entitled to sit and watch from the sidelines.

They don't tell people on PURPOSE. Mainly because a LOT of folks are so desperate to get one that day that they WILL settle. Especially after waiting hours in line.

It's just good business. You could always choose to wait, but you won't.

Small Town....

I live in a small town of around 7K, and we have a small ATT store that is an authorized retailer. I just left there and they got 10 of the 6's and 8 of the 6+. I saw the boxes from a distance, but she wouldn't let me get close enough to them to get a pic. They were in various colors and sizes, she told me to come on up at 830 in the morning so I would have first pick!

I stopped in at a small T-Mobile store today by my house to see if they had any demo's and to compare Note 3 size to the Plus. They didn't. Got to talking with the rep and we went over specs and sizes and stock. He said they aren't getting any Pluses or 128gb 6's. Only 16 Space Gray Black color in 16gb and only 16 Space Gray Black in 64gb..

By the way. I didn't think the Note 3 was to big and I'm a girl. I can see people getting the Plus to combine a phone and the mini iPad easily ;) There was not one customer in that store. I am with ATT though

Thanks. Just called the Ala Moana store and I think it forwarded to a mainland call center lol. Southern accent lady with none of the usual store background noises gave vague scripted answers....

"What time do you allow people to line up?"
"Well the store opens at 8am, but that doesn't mean you have to wait till 8am"

"When do people usually start lining up?"
"The store opens at 8am, but I'm sure there will be people before than"

"There are rumors of a shortage of 6 Plus on launch day, do you have a lot in stock for tomorrow?"
"Don't believe the rumors, we have tons and tons available"

I just called my local Verizon store. He wouldn't comment on stock. He did say that my odds of getting a phone if I showed up at 8:00am would be almost zero.

The first person in line showed up at 1:00pm today.

Not encouraging.

I was just there today and they told me security will not let anyone in the mall until 5am, they open at 8. I plan on getting there at 430 and waiting on the street until 5. They said be careful, if security sees you before 5 they will kick you out of the mall.

EE store in lakeside essex called earlier to confirm my iPhone 6 plus is in, in silver 64gb, picking it up in the morning , they had no space greys 6 plus delivered at any store though .. Definatley s shortage of them

Yep so overnight they kick you out of the mall but if you can imagine, all you have to do is move back and stand on the sidewalk in front of the parking lot. So the line actually forms there overnight while waiting to be let in.

What sucks is that the Macy's is a T, so you can come in from the parking lot on the left or the parking lot on the right. And usually lines have formed on both sides. So when mall security says come in, people still kinda race in and the two lines mix.

Last year I went from like 12th in line to 25th in line due to this weird process. Still got exactly what I wanted though :). Was actually surprised how big of a binder of tickets they came out with.

I just talked to a rep at the AT&T store in Oakland and she wouldn't tell me anything. I'm looking to get the 64gb iPhone 6

Called Walmart Kapolei, Hawaii. Employee said they haven't received their shipment yet, which he said was unusual. But said they will probably only have 6, not 6 Plus.

Walmart Kunia, Hawaii also said they haven't received their shipment, but to try calling later. Employee said he thinks they will only have 64GB 6 and 128GB 6 Plus.

Authorized dealers are places like Radio Shack, Best Buy, ect.

I've never bought one at any of those places, but Best Buy was the only place a family member of mine was able to find a iPhone 5 in our area the weekend of the launch.

I don't think that's what the person was talking about... 3rd part dealers have storefronts, and only sell phones... they will have AT&T logo on the store window or something, but they aren't a AT&T store, they're an authorized retailer. You see them often in malls and strip malls.

Why all the secrecy about inventory? So stupid. Who benefits from 100 people in line and 30 phones? The net result is 70 disappointed people.

I would agree. I would think that they do JIT inventory, but i would think you should know at least the day before. That way you don't waste a bunch of peoples times.

Went to a local Verizon store. They said they didn't know how much they were getting in, but they had a decent supply of cases for both models. There was even a security guy there. They said my chance of getting a phone if I showed up around 5am would be pretty good, and no one was camping out yet.

A bit of an extreme example, but what happens when you tell 100 people on the Titanic that there are only 30 lifeboats?

+1 for Darwinism in that situation. Key in point, Black Friday at Walmart. If you think Apple Launches are bad, I've seen videos and experienced the crazy when they say go at Walmart. At least people won't get killed fingers crossed.

I'm just gonna head over to my local mall that has a T-Mobile. It's a kiosk and a majority of people don't know that it's one of their corporate stores, gonna head over around 8 am just to get it out of the way (getting a few 6's)

What happens when you assure the 100 people they have 200 life boats, every possible color/storage capacity they could possibly want full in stock, and then, the ship starts sinking, and somehow you lose all but 30... how will those 100 people respond?

This is why they don't promise anything, or give stock quotes. It's really just not worth it to them to risk being wrong. No incentive for them, with some risk of being wrong...

At a corporate verizon store in Springfield MO and they have every color of 6+ but didn't say how many could be 1 could be 10. But I'm 1st in line so I've got my pick!
