I have had the 1st gen iPhone SE (which I have loved) but it is definitely due to be replaced.

I originally thought I’d want the mini to stick with a small phone, but decided i wanted to try something different.
I thought I’d just do the 12 Pro, but I’m more and more intrigued by the camera setup on the PM and kinda want to give a big phone a whirl!

So, any 1st gen SE to 12PM converts out there?! Share your thoughts!

I haven’t used a first-gen SE size type since the 5S. I bet you’d enjoy the Pro Max at first but ultimately would be better off with a 12 Pro, if not the Mini.

That’s quiet a big jump. I wouldn’t use the camera as a big reason to go to the max. Based on the reviews it’s not a huge difference between 12/pro vs Max. The big difference are the big screen and the battery which you’ll notice for sure. The screen max might be too much for someone used to a small 4 inch screen.

Yeah, I'm ready for a larger screen for sure - I'm not getting any younger!

Nobody else made this giant leap?!

I made this transition...sort of! I was previously using an 11 Pro Max, but sold it in anticipation of the new phones, so went back to my old SE for several weeks. I also use an iPhone 8 every day as a work phone, which is obviously bigger than the SE, but not by that much. It's a funny sort of transition - many things are identical (i.e. the was iOS works and looks), but in other ways it feels like using a totally different device.

Needless to say, you're in a real treat with the cameras.

I never thought I'd become a 'giant phone' person, but I do really enjoy it. I say go for it - you only live once! If you hate it after a week, you can return it. Or if you decide it's not for you over time, well, you have options then as well.

Thanks for this reply @PeteBurgh! If my life's sufferings are dealing with a phone that is "too big" then I guess I'm doing ok. :) I'm kinda with you at the moment - just go for it and have the experience!

I'm so excited for a camera upgrade!

I'm using the SE1 since 2016. This year I definitely need to upgrade because my SE is bent, the screen is loose and ducktape is holding everything together lol. For me it's either the mini or the 12 Pro Max. I'm leaning towards the 12 Pro Max because no matter which iPhone I buy, it will be more difficult to use one-handed.

Wow - I said the EXACT same thing! Anything bigger than the mini and I feel like I might as well get the Max. I'm a little concerned that the mini's size would just be too similar to the SE. I KNOW they are night and day difference, but I feel like I'm ready for a change. If I go with a bigger phone, I think the biggest frustration might be having to deal with it not fitting in all the places I've kept my phone for the past 4 or so years - pocket, car holder, bike bag, etc.

Are you not considering the 6.1” Pro? I think you’d benefit from trying both phones before making a decision on which to return if you’re buying straight up from Apple.

I am considering it. I keep thinking about it - wondering if it would just be the perfect size. I was hoping the camera setup on the PM would be quite a bit better, but it would seem that's being debated. If it is, for only $100 more I'd probably go for the PM and deal with the massive size.

You're right though, I need to go handle both.

If I were you, I’d buy the Max, but only because of Apple’s bery liberal return policy. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I went from SE to XR, and it’s probably my limit. I wouldn’t be able to fit a Max in jeans pockets, since I already have trouble fitting the XR in (comfortably), and/or taking them out of some jeans.
