Just curious if anyone plans to get the Apple Watch Series 3, now that it is at a cheaper price.

Considering the price hike with the Series 4, the Series 3 is still a great Buy. My suggestion for those who want the Series 3 even cheaper, if they can wait until around Black Friday, retailers will have some steep discounts for the Series 3, which is still very much capable with a faster dual core processor and other features.

Anyone still going for S3 after the reviews for S4 are out? Tough decision. S4 really look like it is worth spending a bit of money more. :)

I have a Series 3 LTE and I’ve ordered a Series 4 but I still kind of wonder why. Unlike an iPhone, I don’t spend much more than a few seconds at a time looking at my watch screen. I don’t really need a bigger screen to read my notifications. And I’m not some old guy who cares about EKGs and fall detection.

I think the Series 3 is the value sweet spot.

What I would do, is go to an Apple store or retailer when they do have the Series 4 in stock as a demo model, see what you like from both models and does the Series 4 really appeal to you in terms of the hardware upgrades.

i considered that, because i would be able to pick one up for less than 180 USD with LTE but the S4 has a improved ceramic back for better LTE reception and that to me is the reason i go for the S4.

The 3 will have a tiny screen and is a bulbous chunk compared to the 4. I compared my 3 to my 0 yesterday and getting back to a thinner watch will be great.

The 3 is just too thick.

Yes I did :)

When it came out no-one noticed that it was too thick. It's simply that the 4 is thinner and with a bigger screen area, a good thing in my opinion.

Since the design is dramatically improved I can't see any reason other that cost to choose the 3. The situation is similar to when the series 1 came out and the series 0 was discounted very heavily. When the series 3 came out I picked up a discounted series 2 but that was because the watch was available for the last time in SS without Cellular as a Series 2.
I always consider if the previous model was the better value but in this case I see the new design as compelling.

I feel this is the same as with their phones. Although still on sale, I can't see many wanting an iPhone 7 or 8 unless cost is a factor. The design is old now. Same with the watches although I won't be buying the 4, as cool as it looks, because I hardly ever use my AW.

Swappa has a good selection of barely-used Series 3 watches being sold by early adopters. After two aluminum watches I felt ready to go stainless steel (mainly for the crystal screen) but didn’t like A) the crazy price, and B) the crazy depreciation.

$350 got me a stainless Series 3 that was brand new in June and has AppleCare+ through June 2020. That seems like the value point currently.

I think the old school S3 will be a nice compliment to my ancient iPhone 8+. :D

I couldn't go back to phones with huge bezels...some bezel is necessary, though.

It's the same with me for ear/headphones; I couldn't go back to wired.

I’d happily recommend S3 GPS-only to spouse as his first AW.

I offered my S3 LTE for free, but it’s that pinky-gold alum.
