Will anyone running the GM seed be restoring to 4.3.5 and then update to the official 5.0 update tomorrow?
Just curious.

I'll restore from the GM to the official version.
They could still fix some bugs but keep the same build number, can't they?
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A334 Safari/7534.48.3)
How do you go back down to 4.3.5?
You'd need to use tinyumbrella or something similar to save your SHSH's prior to upgrading in order to downgrade later.
But really, again, why? I'm on the 5.0GM... I'd prefer to be on the 5.0 public release just for posterity's sake so I'll restore directly from the GM to the release. Makes no sense to downgrade first, IMO.

Can't you just update to official 5.0 from 5.0 GM? or you must to download the IPSW and manually upgrade instead of click update from itunes?

Also, I don't think we've seen a definitive answer as to whether the GM will allow for an OTA update to the release or not. That would, of course, make things quite a bit easier. Doubt it though.
If the build numbers are different you can just update. If they are the same, you can either stay on the GM or get the ipsw and restore to it.
If it's the same build number, you'll have to download the IPSW. There's nothing to it, though. Just Google for the direct URL to the IPSW for your device, download it, and then Shift+Click (for Mac I believe it's command+click) on the "Restore" button in iTunes. It'll ask for the location of the IPSW -- find it, select it, and that's all there is to it.

Thanks for both of you answering my question.
So, for example if the official 5.0 build number is (9A334) then i will need to download the IPSW and manually upgrade? if the build number is different than (9A334) then simply just click update in itunes right?
Correct. I'm probably gonna end up getting the IPSW anyway, just so I can have the public release, unless there's another way of downloading the public release from GM (hopefully OTA update).
OTA updating has been giving me errors when I try to check for updates. Has anyone else had this issue?
Thanks for your prompt answer again
Can't wait to upgrade to the official 5.0 now![]()
