Since I was the OP, I thought I should share: I upgraded my late 08' Alum 2.0 with 4 GB and a 500GB 7200 RPM WD 'Black' HD and its running no prob.

I really don't see a speed boost from SL, but it seems to handle processes and RAM management / release a bit better. If anyone is going to upgrade their RAM, definitely get 8 GB, as ML uses quite a bit more to run than SL; plus the discrete GPU shares 256 MB with the main RAM.

Running SL, just upgraded early 09 MB 5,2 from 2 to 6GB RAM (recommended max).

NO speed increase.

Downloaded ML and most everything now runs 50–100% faster without a hitch.

Nice.

not on any of the computers I've upgraded.

I upgraded my late 08 MacBook Aluminum in my signature and it runs great. There are a few quirks I'd like to see fixed though, like Safari crashing once a week on average. I'm too stubborn to use another browser. Anyways other than that it's much faster than Lion.

Do you have more than one computer? Because if so, Chrome automatically save your passwords / settings and / bookmarks and automatically pulls them up when you log into Chrome on any computer.

Did you upgrade from SL to ML or from Lion to ML?

Nah, I couldn't imagine not using the share button TBH. I mean it's relatively stable, I can risk a crash every now and then until they release a newer build release. Chrome is my go-to choice though for Windows machines, at least since firefox jumped the shark.

Any Unibody (Duo Core 2) owners going to upgrade to Mountain Lion? I'm iffy about upgrading from SL to ML on my late 08' Alum MB, because it's only a 2.0 w/ 4GB...

Already done the upgrade here. Although I admit I have more memory. But RAM is so cheap these days, it's worth upgrading to your machine's maximum and loading ML on to it.
