Have any of you guys who are developers have gotten 3.0 up and running on an iPhone yet?!

And isn't the SDK only for those who pay for the developer program right now? Huge disappointment.

I think you're right...
iPhone Developer Program

The iPhone Developer Program offers a complete process for developing and distributing iPhone or iPod touch applications.

When you join the iPhone Developer Program, you also receive access to iPhone SDK 3.0 and iPhone OS 3.0 beta.

DAMN APPLE!!! They didn't do that for the 2.0 Beta!

if true, thats a shame.

I am sure some dev guru will be able to run it on an actual iphone and release it as a torrent ;)

Yeah because having any Apple software released on a torrent in recent times didn't cause some issue.

you know the beta is going to hit the torrents very soon..

its inevitable..

in fact, i'll search tonight =]

Yeah, it definitely seems like we'll be able to actually have the beta running on our phones. Notice how they say they'll be making both the SDK and the OS available. For any developers who have run iPhone OS betas before, is there any reason I can't run the 3.0 beta on my iPhone which I use as my primary phone?

Yeah it has to be registered to your developer account. DRM :p

That's in reference to 2.0, unless they decide to release beta firmware to all approved developers.

So right there under a big "Get Ready for 3.0" and it is talking about being able to test your 2.0 apps on the phone? I know next to nothing about the development side of things so I dont doubt that I am completely wrong, but that seems a little weird. The way its worded leads me to believe they are talking about testing new apps taking advantage of the new features directly on the phone...

also there are going to be some apps you might have paid for that won't work on 3.0

no they're talking about insuring that developer's 2.0 apps work on the new 3.0 OS and don't have any compatibility issues

go to hell.

sorry, i didn't mean that, because i just realized you have a cat, and i like cats.

Now where is my torrent, damnit.

In talking to a dev I know, they release a firmware update for them to use and test with. He is planning on downloading it tonight and testing his apps with it.

sounds good. let us know if the apps are compatible.

THEN, get it and seed it to us all! mwahahaha!

Well my phone is already associated with the same AppleID that I use with my developer account. If I install the beta on my phone, when the final release comes out this summer, I assume I can upgrade to the final and everything will be a-ok?
