Picked up a 1.25 MacMini recently.

Read it can be overclocked :

Anyone try it here?

While using a soldering iron to remove the small resistors looks difficult,
I was wondering if they could just be snapped or broken instead resulting
in a 1.5GHz speed with all removed?

If desoldering is difficult to you, you could use exacto knife to cut them off. But you need to be precise like surgeon 😉

Maybe practice some tiny elements soldering on old graphics card or motherboard and when you'll be ready, attack the mini.

BTW, 1.25 mini can be OC'ed to stable 1.67 GHz.

overclocked a bunch of these, both the 1.25 and 1.42 would run stable at 1.5 with no problems or changes. fans stayed at the same level. never had one fail.

overclocked, 5400rpm drive, 1gb of ram and they make decent systems for day to day stuff. still won't take over the world, but huge difference from stock. best of luck.

Just overclocked the mini now.

Instead of desoldering I used the tip
of a jewellers screwdriver to pick the 3 resistors off.

Was very quick and worked first try... 1.25 --> 1.5GHz 🙂
