Ok, I'm an heavy user of my macbook and macbook pro and I was wondering if anyone is in a similar situation. I don't break my laptop, but I simply use my battery, ports, keyboard a lot and reach the breaking point in less than a year.

I reached 100 cycles within 2 months (I like working on the go with no cable) and got my usb-c ports loose within the first month. On my previous macbook pro I got my ports replaced 3 times, battery, speakers, keyboard twice during the first year.

I was just wondering if this is normal to have all these repairs. All my laptops are dent-free, very clean, not abused physically. I feel like the guy who complain by using his Ferrari as a daily car.

Btw, I always end-up my apple care contract by having a whole new laptop for free because I apparently had too much problems. I still really enjoy both mb and mbp. I feel fortunate to have a backup machine I can use during repair

Anyone felt had similar experience?

I would consider myself to be a heavy user like that, and I have pushed every Mac I’ve ever used fairly hard. No, it’s definitely not normal to have this many repairs with contemporary MBP. The least robust Mac I used the polycarbonate MacBook (it was a lovely device but boy did the plastic break).

Yes apart from the cheap plastic, it was a nice one. So easy to swap the battery on the previous gen

I use my two MacBook Pros daily but I wouldn't say that I put heavy loads on them but they do get plugged into external KVMs so the ports are used a lot but they're the old-style and bigger so maybe less overall wear and tear. Magsafe is nice too. My 2008 MacBook Pro died in 2018 (lost the screen) so I expect MacBook Pros to last a decade. I realize that that's not the case for every model.

I had a 2008 as well it last so long, I only replaced the battery

Which year is your mbp? I think the 2018 mbps have slightly stiffer ports than previous gens.
