I got my magic keyboard and overall am loving it. The trackpad area is small though. smaller then i thought for pinch to zoom for me.

Then I saw a new 9-5 mac video where he shows the Magic Trackpad 2 size next to the magic keyboards.

Much bigger. was wondering what it was like in conjunction with the new keyboard.

anyone?

So I have a Magic Trackpad 2 at my desk that i typically use with my iMac alongside a Magic Mouse. I decided to pair it to my ipad the other week and still haven’t unpaired it. I have now been using it in conjunction with the magic keyboard and I think it works rather well. The external Magic Trackpad is much more ergonomic and works great. I’ll probably go back to using it with my iMac, but if apple brings Better external display support to the ipad, then would love to use it more.

Oh and to answer the question, yes you can use either the Magic keyboard trackpad or the external Magic Trackpad at the same time.

I had the Magic Trackpad 2 but I returned it when I received the Magic Keyboard. The larger trackpad is nicer but not $130 nicer. I’ll get used to the smaller trackpad and find something else to waste $130 on

I should receive the MK for my 2020 12.9” in a week or two. Also order a Magic Trackpad 2 as well. Plan is to use the Magic Trackpad with the MK in desk situations when doing productivity work. The MK trackpad is always there when using the iPad when out and about.

I prefer the larger size and ergonomics of having the Magic Trackpad 2 off to the side of the iPad when doing extended work.

I ended up buying one and using it the same way. I love it. I gravitate towards the Trackpad 2 already and it makes for a smoother experince for me. when i take the ipad mobile though, i will leave the trackpad on my desk as well.

Yup. it does.

One thing i noticed. tapping on the trackpad did not wake my ipad. but tapping on the new keyboard trackpad does.

That’s good info, thanks. Like you mention, not a big deal to hit the MK trackpad or space bar to wake and unlock the iPad.

What if you click instead of tap? I don't have the MK but clicking the Magic Trackpad 2 wakes the iPad up. "Tap to Click" does not enable open on tap - still need to click the trackpad.

I was looking online for this exact topic and found this thread. I have a 2020 iPad Pro and a Magic Keyboard. I'm starting to edit with LumaFusion and have been mulling over the idea of getting a Magic Trackpad 2 despite having the MK with a Trackpad on it. My thought is having a bigger surface + it being off to the side would help me work a little better. But I can't get past the idea that I am crazy for considering a trackpad when I have one...

Not crazy at all if it improves your workflow and user experience. I have the Magic Trackpad 2 and it is really nice.
