Anyone have a monitor that can run in RGB color mode with Mac Mini M1?

I connected my old U2713HM to the M1 as a test. The display is receiving YPbPr yet the profile still shows Space: RGB which seems wrong.

Maybe the bug is such that Mac OS both sends the wrong signal and thinks it's sending the right one?

Issue confirmed by Eizo. They make high end professional displays and hopefully they and their customers have Apple's ear.

It confirms it’s not a Dell-only problem.

All manufacturers must have the exact same problem.

Since this is a professional grade manufacturer, Apple will likely and hopefully listen to them and finally correct the bug for everyone.

Not entirely unexpected, YUV (YPbPr) is standard for TV signals. A lot of what I'm reading from the Eizo page on this falls into this category. It's as if the M1 is badly assuming TV signals for HDMI, even when the display can do full range RGB, it goes into a limited range YUV mode. Very weird.

The main issue that can really bite you with YUV is chroma subsampling. Where you have 4:2:2 or 4:2:0 instead of 4:4:4. As long as it's 4:4:4, odds are very good you won't be able to see a difference between YUV and RGB. But subsampling shows up as false color in text as the most obvious issue. Far worse than the sort of false color you get from subpixel anti-aliasing. But this chroma subsampling is one of the ways digital video saves space, and folks don't notice it there.

There are other issues like that of incorrect color space (sRGB vs P3 vs Adobe RGB being the obvious ones), or brightness range that can create other problems though. Both of these are covered in the Eizo page linked above.

But at least in my case, I'm using DisplayPort (since I can't drive my UW @ 120Hz without it), and haven't noticed either form of issue with my M1 Mini.

I wonder if the ultrasharp premier color dell monitors are affected too, certainly seems dell specific as mentioned. No mention of Viewsonic yet however.

I would have to assume yes, the UP* series has different panels than the rest but probably shares most of its code and chips. It's the latter two that are responsible for identifying the display to computers.
 
I picked up a Dell P2721Q to try and it works great with my 2016 15" Intel MBP.

With the M1 it displays no picture whatsoever, I tried the included USB-C to C cable as well as a 3rd-party USB-C to DisplayPort cable.

I'm using an LG 43UD79 with an M1/Apple Silicon MBP and it looks terrible over HDMI (can't get RGB mode like I could with previous versions of macOS), and over USB-C, no input signal's detected.

My Dell P3421W is stuck in YPrBr 30bit mode regardless of the cable used (usbc-usbc via apple thunderbolt cable, usb-Display port and HDMI (high speed Belkin cable) with my M1 Mac mini. The colours look fine and there doesn't seem to be any chroma subsampling or blurred text (native resolution 3440X1440, 60Hz). However the second monitor (Dell P2319H, native 1980X1080) connected via UBS-C-Display Port reports RGB colour space but reverts to YPrBr with the HDMI cable.

Can you try setting the display to DisplayPort 1.1 instead of 1.2?

It’s a hidden setting in the OSD but documented in the manual.
 
Tried two dell monitors up2516d and u2520d neither would work in rgb, then purchased a ViewSonic vp2616d and it also has a strange color effect when switched to rgb. Are there any good avenues to push apple to correct this, it's pretty pathetic 3 separate monitors won't work especially for those doing color critical work.

Please consider filing a report through the Mac Feedback Assistant describing the problem and referencing my existing report FB8946046.

Be sure to have the problematic monitor connected at the time of submission so that it shows up in the Sysdiagnose that is collected as part of the report.
 
Well at least there's new rumors apple will be coming out with a more budget priced monitor of their own soon I'm sure that that will work just fine, how convenient for them any other monitor won't work, almost like a good strategy for people to give in and just buy one of theirs. It's too bad more people don't realize the compromise of working with a YPrBr Color Format both for color critical work and eye strain, however most likely most would never notice.
