Any idea when these will start showing up in third party stores like target or best buy?

every store i've called has the 80. its 160 that has become so elusive

yesssss...... I'll be at southcenter on my way home today then. I was originally going with the 160 but I'll only use this until large capacity touch models are available. Right now I can only fill just under half of an 80, and can't d/l much now anyway because of comcast and bit torrent ratio requirements...

just called Tyson's store to ask when they'll have the 160gb...they said "No idea"

I don't understand how they have no idea, doesn't Apple at least have shipping dates for this stuff in their inventory system?

After realizing that the store would likely have it by the time an online order arrived i just ordered it online just now- 160GB black was my choice

Im heading to California for the next few weeks anyone know what are my chances of picking up a classic/nano (any capacity) at a costco?

Apparently not. I just went through this with the new KB. It's kind of silly b/c they must field a million calls when new stuff is out. If they could just post a ETA online the could help the customers in the store. The 160s are shipping from the online store so I hoping maybe they got a late shipment today, or and early one tomorrow. I sold my 80GB during the event am and getting a little antsy w/o an iPod in the car. Local radio bites.

Wirelessly posted (HTC-8100/1.2 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320))

I guess ill swing by the tysons store tomorrow... who knows they might have some 160 giggers

I just stopped by the Cambridge, MA :apple: store, and they claim that the 160GB model won't be coming in until mid- to late-September. :(

They had bundles of 80 gigs, though.

Do you know if the best buys are carrying the 80gb classics yet? The cambridge apple store is a bit farther for me.

They have them in stock in Minnesota at ridgedale in plymouth. I like the design of the classic but I am kind of leaning on the side of the new nano..

The BB in that same mall had a nearly empty MP3 player section, leading me to believe that they're either making room for new ones, or they're just the suckiest electronics store ever. Either way, no iPods there.
EDIT: BestBuy.com claims a release date of the 11th.

I just got an iPod Classic from Meadowhall, UK :D They only had the 160gb silver model... i wasn't sure what colour to get, so that made the decision for me ;)

Thats grand, Meadowhall of all places :p

Im going to try Bluewater to see if the :apple: shop has any to have a look at but I doubt it.

My apple store is closed for renovation and circuit city doesn't get them until the 28th. Atleast my apple store will be open way before then.

I saw a 160GB Classic on display at the Regents Street store and some Nanos. They have the Nanos available but were sold out on the classic...."Check back next week" they said.

Speaking of which i noticed the UI on the Classic was kinda slow sometimes taking up to 2 seconds to respond to clicks. Whereas the Nano seemed fine.

Just called Apple's Sagemore store in Marlton, NJ. They have plenty of 80GB silver and black in stock, but only a "handful" of 160GB models. I'll be going later today or tonight to pick myself up an 80GB, though I still don't know the color i want ;)

Just left Apple Soho in NYC with a black 160GB. They had silver too. A drawer full of both. This was about an hour ago. The 5th Ave. store reported "a few silver ones only" at 1pm.

Bought an 80gb Classic at about 6pm from the Regents street store.
They have black 80gb Classics, and silver 160gb Classics. Not too sure who you spoke to, but they were incorrect with the information they gave you!

Just got back from the Tyson's Corner VA Apple store - they had all of the new iPods in stock except the iPod Touch and the Silver 160gb iPod classic. They did have black 160gb classics, but I want a silver. More waiting for me... :(

Out of curiosity does anyone know if the 160gb version is thicker than the 80gb? Like the 80gb was thicker than the 30gb in the previous generation?
