Hi guys,

Just replaced my 2011 MBP 15" with the new 2020 M1 MBP 13". I accidentally noticed the screen has this 'orange peel' / ripple effect when viewing the screen at certain angles with the screen turned off. It also has a slight purple/violet tint to the screen.

Are these normal on these newer Macs?

Thanks

Assuming the orange peel effect is very slight, I have it and think it is normal. The tint is probably an anti-reflective coating.

If its when display turned off, it can be from the red glue at corners if its there. Its there when turned on?Anyway, the 2014-2015 imacs have a flaw, when the monitor edges getting purple tint. Lot of users reported that…there is a tread about that in imac section….only solution is replace screen, and pray that you will not get it again in 2 years
