I just discovered this site and am wondering the following:

1. how likely is it to get scammed as a seller on the site?
2. are there other sites I should look into instead?

Thanks

getting scammed is avoidable if they have previous selling history and paypal sometimes lets you qualify for buyers protection. worst case is getting a more skuffed phone compared to the pictures or stolen phone with blacklisted IMEI. also remember you’re paying taxes as if you’re buying a brand new phone .

just read as a “seller” well i think it’s a gamble every time. i’ve sold maybe 5 items and i always fingers crossed they don’t claim they never got the device or something stupid. most bang for the buck would be craigslist they won’t hit you with 10% service fee and 4% transfer fee

I have used it several times to sell iPads, used Switch games, and I think even a MacBook once.

1. It is unlikely. The difference between Swappa and eBay is that each transaction on Swappa is monitored by a human being, not a computer. They have a really good verification system for listings, and you should have no problems. JUST BEWARE of the excess fees. My advice is have some patience and just tell them to send you a check for the payment from the seller. When you start adding in auto deposits and digital transfers and stuff it knocks a BUNCH of money off of your profit and I feel like they purposely try to steer you toward those extra services. Stay away.

2. I have abandoned eBay and I will not use Craig's list. For gadgets and video game related stuff, I've been using Swappa for years.

Why will you not use Craig's List?
Thanks

Why will you not use Craig's List?

I am not one of those people who never leaves the house--I'm perfectly social sometimes--but stuff like Craig's List and Facebook Marketplace freak me out. The world seems to be under some kind of weird psychosis right now and I don't want to be murdered over an iPad. Now, have I ever been murdered over an iPad before? No. But I think that's just because I only use Swappa. ;)

I have used Swappa to both buy and sell and have never had a problem. I believe they hold the funds until buyer acknowledges they have received it and are happy?

Swaps is the best. I normally buy everything I can through there.

I had one issue where person sent me an iPhone that the camera was broke on and didn’t work (couldn’t tell from photos required).

Said person deleted the account (they had numerous good feedback) and I submitted a claim and got all my money back and since I couldn’t contact them had no way to return the phone..

I have sold twice with Swappa, no problem.

The entire sale process takes a bit of time.

And like others have mentioned the funds via PayPal are not release right the way.

I've used Swappa for years. Sold many phones, ipads and Macs...Only had one issue where I learned quickly from. It can take time to sell if you're just getting started. You have to compete with the price points of other sellers and their rep. My "niche" is overnight delivery at no extra cost and communication.

I've used swappa for years. Sold maybe 70 devices and bought 20 or so. Lately they seem to have a ton of businesses vs just users on there and getting away with not a lot of details on the devices. Skim through those find the users and buy them.

Otherwise I've never had an issue. Smartphones to MacBooks.

I've been buying and selling on Swappa for years without any issues. I just sold my iPhone 14 Pro Max on there recently. Keep in mind, though, that there is a seller free, and then they charge tax to whatever you end up selling it for. You set the prices, though.
