I am signed into my pop3 account (Personal website email address) on my computer and have Mail.App open. However, when I try to connect, it prompts me for my password. I enter it, and it says it is wrong.

Now, during this, I also have my iPhone on, connected via USB, and mail works fine.

If I turn my iphone OFF (full off), then my Mail.APP goes back to normal.

Anyone have this issue?

Any ideas?

It seems like the whole mail.app syncing scheme is a little wonky...

I think we're going to see some pretty serious updating to the whole syncing thing when leopard and iTunes8 comes out.

It seems like they locked all of the features a long time ago to make sure everything out of the box worked... now they can go back and start refining and adding new stuff.

Your problem seems a little extra weird though, I certainly didn't experience anything like that.

Could it be that my server is only allowing one connection at a time?

My Blackberry didn't have this issue. Maybe the blackberry was setup differently?

Sounds like a "one connection at a time" thing. Mine tends to do that. (running 10.2 Server). Need Junk filter, so I'm going to limit my mail use on iPhone for now.

I'm seeing similar issues with myself and several friends who have iPhones. the iPhones are fine, Mail.app is not. Pop accounts refuse their passwords, IMAP accounts just seem to stall out.

I suspect it has something to do with being hosted on a CPanel site. I'm seeing the same issue on four different hosts, but all of them are CPanel running the Courier mail server.

I'm going to be doing a lot more testing around this, it's a major problem for us.

its a one connection per server issue. I have had that problem a couple of times. i usually turn off the wifi on iphone and wait a couple of minutes and it works.

I am also looking for a workaround to this issue. Is it possible that my email provider (a University) could enable multiple logins to their POP3 server at the same time (ie: the iPhone and my Mac), or is this an issue with Apple's software? Does anybody not have this problem?

Usually if I just wait a while, my mail.app will start working again, but its kind of annoying that there isn't any way to tell the iPhone to disconnect from the POP server and let my mac back in other than waiting 5-10 minutes or rebooting the iPhone.

Even if my iPhone it set to manual checking, it still won't let me check my email on my Mac (Apple Mail) if my iPhone has checked in the last 10 minutes.

It seems to work fine now that I switched from POP to IMAP (my university gave me an option of doing it either way...).
