I am not liking the new MobileMe drive icon and would like to change it back.
I hate it too. e-mail me and I can send you the old icon.
Never mind, you don't need to e-mail me. I forgot I can add as an attachment.
I know it may look crappy here, but right-click and save the image. For some reason the lowest quality part of the gif is displaying here.
What does the new one look like? Mine still looks like the above attachment.
The new one is HOT freakin' Pink/purple ! I s*** you not!
Yeah, the new one is too femmy for my taste. We need someone to adjust the cloud to a nice crap-brown color.
Any idea why I would still have the old icon? I got the Leopard Update today which changed my System Preferences and everything.
I would presume that you could make the iDisk icon anything you wanted. Just like you can with any other drive icon wheter it is local or network mounted.
In case you don't know how to change the icon:
1.) find an icon that you like (google can be your friend here) and copy that image to the clipboard
2.) select the drive and cmd + i (get info)
3.) click on the graphic in the get info window then paste the new icon
A hidden file should then be copied to the drive letting every mac that mounts that drive see your new icon. Just is it can be done for folders.
If you still need the icons, I've got them. I backed up all the files that the MobileMe update changed (saw the updated ones in Pacifist). Place the files icons (in the zip) into :
And then logout/ restart & your iDisk icon should be changed. I've got all of the old system graphics for .Mac still so, let me know if you want the rest as well. Maybe I'll put together a guide on how to restore all the old graphics
Here's the guide to replace ALL (except for one though) the MobileMe graphics with the .Mac ones
Thanks to everyone. I knew I wasn't the only one who was disappointed in the new icon.
I liked the idea, but not the color... I created a new one: http://www.robalan.com/design/changing-the-mobileme-idisk-icon/
Why didn't they go with a blue tone or something instead of purple?
Apple's been heading in a very purple direction, so this makes sense. Leopard disk, default Leopard bg, iTunes store on iPhone/iPod Touch, etc.
