It's different for iPhone 6/Plus now. You have to press and hold the power button first then press the home button. Don't press them at the same time.

Yeah, why do they keep fixing stuff that isn't broken?
 
I've been having issues taking screenshots versus previous iPhones, but I figure its just a timing thing and getting used to the new power button placement.

No, that shouldn't make a difference. It's clearly a bug.
 
Just hold the power button and then press home button. It can't be that difficult
 
No, every device/software update has an increasing number of flaws. Clearly if others are experiencing the same things, it's not just me.

New software has bugs, it always has. New hardware often has issues, this isn't new to Apple.

The "issue" you're having right now isn't really a problem at all. You're just nit picking.
 
Happens to me too on my 6+. But since the OP is running a 4S, it makes me think it might be related to iOS 8?
 
I've never had issues on 5s, 6, 6 Plus. I hold Power Button and the press Home Button, as I mentioned in post #6.
