Anyone have trouble trying to take screenshots and it goes to sleep?

It's different for iPhone 6/Plus now. You have to press and hold the power button first then press the home button. Don't press them at the same time.

Pressing at same time works for me.

Do you have the 6 or 6+? Trying to determine if it's related to the 6+ lag as I have no issues here with my 6.

It won't go to sleep unless you release the button but hold it too long and it'll try to power down.

That's the definition of sleeping it. It won't sleep/shut off the display unless you release the button so you can first press it then hit the home button to take a snapshot.

No, every device/software update has an increasing number of flaws. Clearly if others are experiencing the same things, it's not just me.

New software has bugs, it always has. New hardware often has issues, this isn't new to Apple.

No I have a 6. I said I never had this issue on my 4S.

I've never had issues on 5s, 6, 6 Plus. I hold Power Button and the press Home Button, as I mentioned in post #6.
