Has anyone had any luck trading in their iPhone 8 or newer to Verizon for the $440 promotion? Some of my family members have bought phones through Verizon and have had a horrible time trying to get them to honor the $440 for their qualifying phones. They've had to escalate to supervisors who said it was all resolved, and then the next day they still got an email from Verizon saying they hadn't received the phones and that the trade-in value was only $101 (which would be true if this wasn't an iPhone 12 with the extra promotion).

I've been holding off on buying my phone because of this, and am wondering if it might be easier to buy it from Apple since they also offer the same $440 trade-in (and I believe part of it is an instant refund). The only reason I was going to go through Verizon is because they also have a $200 loyalty promotion on my account which they said is stackable, but my family members are also having difficulty getting that promotion applied.

Also, has anyone had any luck stacking the $440 with a loyalty promotion? This $200 seems to be a promotion that only the phone representatives can activate and is not visible in my online account or when I try to place an order online.

I had 3 phones that I traded in and didn’t have any issues. Had two Xs and a 8 and got the $440 credit for all of them. Two took a couple weeks longer it other than that no issues.

Go through Apple, easier and guaranteed.
That’s been my thought as well, but I would not be able to get the additional $200 loyalty bonus which supposedly is stackable with the trade-in if I buy through Verizon.

I just sent my IPhone XS Max back to Apple for a $370 instant credit. I have had nothing but problems with Verizon in the past and wont play there stupid games ever again.

Any place but here or there....

I‘ve lost money through Verizon’s trade in and money and a phone through ATT.

If I was in this position, I’d go with Apple and use that loyalty credit toward my Verizon bill.

Whatever you do, may it all work out for you.

Same exact problem last night. Trying to buy two phones, both with small payoffs. First we hit a snag saying there was no "account manager" for my daughter's phone (I am the main account holder on the plan). Apple said we needed to go to Verizon app or website to add an account manager for the line. Did that, order failed and said it could not be shipped. We could go to an Apple store and buy one out of existing stock (none available).

Tried a second phone, the main phone on the account. Same deal. Called Verizon. She suggested I pay off the phones first separately (but no assurances that would solve the issue). Payoffs are not prorated, and our payoffs drop by about $100 in 5 days when bill is paid. We could wait, but no assurance deal will be still available. Seems like a typical Verizon bait and switch deal.

PS: it seems the problem was the unlimited plan we were on. We were on the $40 per phone/Go Unlimited. We had to switch to the "improved" Do More plan for $45 per phone. We were able to downgrade our other older phones to the $35 Start plan. Apple was unable to resolve this on their end, you need to talk to Verizon. I tried several times with chat and phone support with Verizon and got nowhere. In the end I called a friend who works in a Verizon retailer, and they were able to push the deal through. Each phone got the $440 off which is probably the best deal you can get right now (even with the extra $5 monthly gouging).
