Anyone heard from Walmart yet?

I figured it was probably going to be a problem (especially due to having to go to multple stores multiple times and getting responses that ranged from blank looks to "we can't sell you one of those cards -- yes I know they're sitting right there on the counter") but I wasn't able to preorder online and thought this could end up being a better option than standing in line or having to wait for additional supply replenishment at the AT&T stores. I figured that Walmart would make good on the $25 if it came down to it -- and sure enough when I was called by my local store last night and told that they would NOT be getting the phones in today I made other plans.
Went to one of the AT&T stores this morning, got there at about 6:45...doors opened at 8, and I was on my way to work by 8:45 new iPhone 5 in hand!
The redemption instructions on the back of the $25 pre-order state that the cashier should use the card just like a gift card toward the purchase price and then collect the balance due...so I'm going to try to just go to one of their gas stations and use it at the pump. If that doesn't work I'll go inside and hopefully won't have to raise too much hell...
In all, I knew it was probably too good (too easy) to be true and turns out that it was. Maybe they'll be ready in another couple of years. And FWIW, several Walmart employees made it known to me that they live in FEAR of Apple...that Apple can "come close their store down" if they do something wrong. While that is an exaggeration, I do think it is interesting. One manager told me that "we can't put any other signage in their display case or anything" -- which kindof tells you everything you need to know about why Apple is apparently very strict with them.

yes.. some walmarts in my area received only the white phone only. I took a chance with walmart because they offered the phone at 189 and did not charge tax on original price of the phone which mean I would be saving around 40$ which is worth it imo even if I still have to wait on my phone.. -.-".
Nope its a black one. Once you go black you never go back. If you know what i mean.😉

I'm hoping they don't get pushed back like Sam's Club. I have an Ebay Instant Sale offer that expires Oct. 1. Anyone else get their pre-order yet?

I too pre-ordered from Walmart, which was a mess to do. When I went in they had a rack of Verizon and AT&T cards, black and white. Must have had 40 plus cards. They tried what I wanted the AT&T "black" one first and their system said "Sale Not Allowed". The girl had the wireless center manager come over, then she had the store manager come over. To top it off that the branch manager was at the store, he tried with no luck. None of their cards would work. So they put me on the list anyways without paying for the $25 card and said they would call me. They kept saying "I never got an email about not selling them or having them...?"

Just called and they still don't have any. Must be getting a lot of calls about them to, the guy sounded a bit upset. That walmart phone site that was mentioned above (http://zreward.com/categories/2/products) says:

Today Walmart!! Seems Walmart's are getting worse and worse with things. I do some shopping there for other stuff and they are never stocked and seem to be messy and employees are always very rude.

There are two walmarts located in my city and one just recently opened up. The Walmart tha been around for year has the rudest and most annoying employees. The newly opened Walmart I was surprise with there employees because they were nice and informative. Im assume either these new workers are excited and happy for there new jobs or Walmart pulled in all the "good" local employees to ensure a successful launch. Anyways what I wanted to say about the iPhone was that I was informed by employee that handles shipment was that Walmart handles there shippments of iPhones by FedEx and they only recieved shipments thoughtout the week so it was probably not gonna come over the weekend. I'm preying the phone comes in today because it is almost impossible to buy a iPhone anywhere else at this point.

On 9/24 I called & was told they have no idea when the phones will be in..."maybe later this week" she said.
Everyone I've spoken to at Walmart regarding this seems to have less knowledge about the preorders than I do, with the exception of knowing that they haven't received the phones.
I'm assuming that by now every retail store in the Dallas metro is sold out. I'd rather wait than go on a wild goose chase, I just hope it arrives before my T-mobile bill cycles over again next month.

Same for me. Called my Walmart today and still nothing. So I asked the guy "do you expect to get any soon or at all?" He replied "Not likely!" Walmart=Fail! Just glad I didn't have to pay the $25 per-order fee. Screw it I'm just going onto AT&T's website and ordering it. Walmart fails again.
Well just heard from my Walmart. They said the received a white 16GB ATT iPhone 5 and knew I had preordered a black one but wanted to offer me the white one. I declined and said I'd just wait for the black one. I figure I've waited this long whats a couple more weeks. Not a big fan of the white iPhones. I ordered with AT&T directly a couple weeks ago so I would have had to call them, cancel my order and ask for my discount to be put back onto my account. I'll just wait.
My Walmart just recieved there order and they only had enough for the 5 preorders and I assume they had a mixture of white and black phones. I am finally holding my iPhone 5 whichi should have recieved during launch.. Never again...20 days for me. How has everyone else been doing?
I called a nearby radioshack and walked out half an hour later on the 25th with a 16 gig iPhone 5
Screw Walmart. When it was 10am on launch day and they still didn't have them, I strolled into an apple store and stood inline for one hr. after that drove to Walmart and got a refund. Never again as well
Reserved one at Wal-Mart, got a call on 10/10 saying it was in, picked it up on 10/11. First iPhone purchase after owning a blackberry for the past 3 years so I guess I wasn't as pressed as most to actually get the phone. $174.50 later (after the $25 reservation/gift card) later, all is well. Said they actually only received 6. Could've swore I was like 5th on the list. Rep said they got both black and white versions, didn't ask how many of each. He did tell me I got the last black one though.
