I use them on my 13 Pro Max with a dBrand skin on the back. If you want to go without a case, I highly recommend them. They add grip to the sides (and the back). When you first put them on, you’ll think you made a mistake because the skin will be very cloudy. However, after a few hours, the skin will become completely clear.

any tips for the side skins? do you use the solution to get those to apply as well?

Yes, I used the solution for the sides too. However, I used my fingers to squeeze out the excess solution instead of the supplied squeegee because it was easier to prevent the wet material from sliding around. Also, my tip is to place the phone in between something that will keep the phone on its side without falling over while you apply. For example, I stacked two dumbbell free weights on each side of the phone so the phone stayed up and my hands were free. I hope that makes sense.
