I'm very interested in playing some Windows only Steam games via Wine and was wondering if anyone else here has tried this and how well it works?

I want to play King of the Fighters and some of the Street Fighter games, which seem to be only on Windows. I see you can get a Samurai Showdown game on Humblebundle, but I'll have to look into this later.

Any advice is appreciated!

I've used Crossover which is the commercial front end application using wine with a lot of success. Your best bet is to look through the WineDB and see if your game is compatible.

I set this up once to play Half-Life 2 : Lost Coast and it worked well. There were occasional lags in the frame refresh, but the result was artefact-free and stable. Haven't done it since mind, even though I accidentally bought a game on a Steam sale last year that is Windows-only.
