My Mac Pro now crashes anytime it goes to sleep for more than an hour. (The really good kind where you get the grey "Your computer restarted because of a problem" and you have to hold down the power button.)

Does anyone here understand crash reports well enough to tell me if this is a hardware problem I need to take it in for or if it's just some software?

Thanks in advance.

It may be the 9230 card... with 10.8.5 or 10.9 DP4 came the KP on Wake from Sleep issue with the Marvell 88SE9230 chipset on many PCI-E cards.

On the Rocket 640L, for example, it has been fixed by a firmware update. While you do need a real PC to do the firmware update, it addresses the issue on that card at least. If you happen to have a 640L, PM me for the firmware.

Perhaps Concorde Rules or someone else can confirm if the firmware he handed me will work on any card with the 88SE9230 controller?

EDIT : I see the device ID for your 9230 device is the same as my Rocket 640L... you may be in luck there.

I see an OWC Accelsior driver loaded.
from the tiny little notes at the bottom of OWC's page for that product:
**A sleep conflict may be encountered when using certain eSATA chipsets via the eSATA ports when booted to the Accelsior_E2. See the specifications tab for affected solutions where System Sleep mode MUST be disabled in order to ensure reliable operation. Allowing system sleep to occur while one of the affected external drives is connected via the Accelsior_E2 eSATA ports could result in loss of data following wake from sleep. Although the above are our general recommendations for use, wake from sleep has been determined to only be an issue when the Accelsior PCIe is used for startup (SSD or eSATA connected device). We are working with our partners to see that the sleep/wake function is fully supported with all solutions and startup scenarios.

don't know if any of that applies, but it seems like it might be relevant.
Also, it looks like they have a newer driver available on their site.
