Anyone here tried an external GPU on the new 2017 iMacs ?

As title says, Im wondering how well does an external GPU perform on an iMac 2017.
I hope its not like what i saw on laptops. where you get huge performance drop when using built in display and not connecting an external monitor.

I think the ability to use an external GPU with the internal iMac display will only be possible by the end of 2017, but as far as using an external display maybe others can help.

I meant in windows bootcamp. For gaming performance

Well, the external GPU is the Radeon RX 580, so really there isn't much point. You can buy an iMac with the Radeon Pro 580 (which is a bit downclocked but otherwise is similar).
