I just got my macbook today and I love it. However, I have the dreaded "Moo" problem right now and I'm curious as to whether or not anyone else here is keeping their mooing macbook instead of just returning it. Are you guys just living with it, hoping for a firmwear patch or what? I'm curious as to whether o not I should exchange it or not.

Calling it the "dreaded" moo is a little over dramatic don't you think? Mine does it and I can only hear it when there is no other ambient noise. Even when I can hear it I am not bothered by it. I expect that the fan set points will be adjusted on the next software update and even if they aren't I certainly wouldn't go through the hassle of transferring my data to a new machine for something so minor. Turn on some tunes and enjoy.

I've just returned my 4th macbook (white 2ghz) and decided to get a refund this time.

The mooing wasn't an issue for me but the whining was, along with various build quality issues!

The last one I had was the quietest in terms of whining but it had the loudest psu so far - basically it amplifies the high frequency cpu noise when charging. Not so bad in a noisier office environment but way too loud at home for me.

I'm going back to my Dell for now and I'm hoping a later build won't have any issues for me!

Mine has it, but recently it seems to be happining a lot less frequent. But the reason might also be that I am working in a more noisy environment right now. I am much more upset about the whine, which is really extremely annoying, when working on battery, which luckily I don't do all that often.

Edit: I should add that I have a MacBook Pro. I didn't realize that you were talking about the MacBooks. So they have the Mooing too.

I do a lot of work in the library and I'm concerned that this mooing will become a distraction for way to many people around me.
