You're waiting for a non existent product? Really? I mean waiting for the next iPhone/iPad/MBA refresh is something. Because refreshes do happen; the only thing no one knows for sure is what the new features will be. But you're almost waiting for a new product line-a 15 inch Air would really help drive even more sales away from the Pro probably and not be serving the same market as current Air users. It's a whole new market.

I don't actually think they will expand their product line, but consolidate it. I think 2012 is going to be the year of Air-like Ivy Bridge 15" and 17" Pros, then later I the they will introduce Ivy Bridge 11" and 13" MacBook Airs. I expect the 13" Pro will be dropped, and the 13" Air will be the new budget line 13".

Reason number 2 for me - need to run VM's so more than 4gb would turn me away from MBA.

You can run VMs on the MBA just fine...

No, I'm considering waiting until next year to see what actually happens. I don't need to update right now. Last time I checked this was a rumor site and a discussion board...

You do realise ppl were "waiting" for an iPad whilst it was still a "non existent" product? Same for the iPhone. Same with rumoured apple branded tv.

But you're almost waiting for a new product line

No, I'm speculating on the various rumours which seem to indicate that a 15" air might be in the works. That's an extension to an existing product line, not a new one.

So?

Didn't that happen with the iMac? A lot more users overlook the mac pro now and get an "ultimate" iMac instead. Hell, some ppl even skip an air altogether and settle for an iPad.

Apple is eventually going to drop the SuperDrive so perhaps in the next 12, 18, 24 months apples strategy IS to get users to purchase an air over a mbp.

Instead of concluding a 15" Air would kill 15" mbp sales, consider a 15" Air might attract even more sales overall.

My wife has an 18.4" Toshiba Qosmio X505 laptop that is huge and I wanted something I could carry in my backpack so I purchased the new i7 13.3" MBA with 256GB SSD and love it.
