Why sit behind a computer screen and pretend to fly when you can fly a real plane ;)

Seriously. Why forgo reality when you can experience the real thing?
(i read the OP's comment about medical issues, I get that, my friend has an inner ear problem that prevents him from piloting)

I'm saving for flight lessons next spring :D

Even if you can get a medical, the cost of training alone can be the deal breaker. Training in the Diamond DA42 Twin Star for one 1.5 hour flight cost me $600. A 5.1 hour flight for my long cross country cost $1,400. It may be cheaper over at a Part 61 training school though.

Total costs for flight school/training vary from 8-10 grand, generally over a 6-12 month period, depending on quickly you want to get through it. I'm studying for the written test on my own to save some money instead of ground school. Also so I can study at my own pace and really learn the material.

Are you actually training? Why are you starting on a twin engine?--because yeah that would be expensive, more expensive and difficult than a single.

I got to ERAU so it is pricey. I have my commercial pilot license with an instrument rating( both AMEL and ASEL).

I played around in FSX once. I can take off OK, but I've yet to land a plane without crashing it into the runway. I gave up after awhile :p

I feel the same in X Plane 10. I haven't been too serious about it though, just messing around.

I had look that up, had never heard of it. Looks cool. I'm looking to start with a private license and go from there. I've thought that in time I might work up to a commercial license, maybe pursue as a second career.
