That's eye-suicide if you ever have to use your phone in a dark environment.
I keep mine slightly below halfway.

If you're used to having it at so bright, then yeah, anything lower will bother. Same vice versa though

My thoughts exactly. I, too, keep it below 50%. 100% is like staring into the sun...cook your retinas in a flash!

My iPhone 5 puts itself on 100% brightness from time to time and I notice it right away because my skin gets dry and I start to burn. :D

I wish that bug would go away...

I keep it at 30% - 40% with auto brightness on. I use my phone waaaaay too much to keep it at 100%. Plus it hurts my eyes at 100%, I feel like I'm staring at the sun, especially when its on a page with a lot of white. The only time it goes to 100% is when it is SUPER BRIGHT outside, but auto brightness does it for me. My cousin keeps hers at 100% and I don't know how she sees...

Funny, I think it looks better at 50-65% than 100%. 100 is way too bright IMO, unless there's strong, direct light shining on the screen.

I keep mine around 70% with auto brightness on. I can't imagine how much faster the battery would drain at full brightness.. lol.

I'm a Visualphile if there's such a thing. I own 2 Calibrated Panasonic VT50 Plasma televisions a 55 and 65 to give you a since of how screen quality means alot to me

So I can't help but keep the phone brightness at 100%, the screen looks junk below full brightness

anyone feel the same

1. That would be too bright for me, unless there's an urge for me to use the phone under the sun (like navigating using compass/map during class picnic, etc.).

2. Battery will be drained very quickly.

3. Using the phone constantly with such setting on will make it very hot.

4. Even at 50%, it's very bright for me already. To balance between battery drainage and usability, I often set it 1/3 of the max brightness bar...

In the TV world, we call that "Torch mode". I can't see how anyone who appreciates a calibrated plasma TV would like their iPhone at 100% brightness.

I keep mine around 50%, maybe a bit higher...

Oh man...i just tried 100%. Its like i have screen burn-in in my eyes. I'm having trouble reading now  I think when my eye recovers, i'm gonna stick to 50% :D

50-60% with auto-brightness all the time.

Anyway, auto-brighness in iOS 6 works like a charm. So, when I am in direct sunlight the brightness of the screen increases to about 90% or even more.

Cheers!

I wish the brightness setting was more accessible under ios6. I would set it manual if I didn't have to go through settings to adjust it.

I have a professionally calibrated Pioneer Elite Plasma, which make me the only true Visualphile here. All other tv's are just for beginners. I set mine at iphone at 75%. :)

Yeah, 100% is just too bright. And keeping it below the max brightness helps save batteries.

I keep it between 30-50%. And the screen doesn't look bad at all.

But then its eye suicide if you use it at half brightness and have to squint to read it when in full daylight! Its like with my macbook pro. I can feel my eyes doing more work when its 50%. 100% feels much easier to read and watch and everything else

Well, that's what auto-brightness is for lol. For those which it works that is.. As many say it doesnt.

Anywhere from 80-100% during the daytime with auto brightness on,& down to 40-60% at nite cause my eyes get sore from looking at my screen for so long :)

lol, then i guess it doesnt work for me! I had never really given it thought, but it is ON and doesnt appear to help AT ALL!

Lol.. What iDevice do you have? Me and my mom's iPhone 4 auto-brightness never worked even in iOS 5 and 6. When I upgraded to iPhone 5, everything worked so flawlessly.

It may have to do with your device not just the newer iOS 6 algorithms and detection - newer iPhones (5) may have better sensors too.

Mine's between 25-50% during the day depending on the brightness of the room. I don't use it much outside so can't say.
One complaint I have with the 5 is that it doesn't go dark enough for when I want to read in bed - 0% is still too bright!
My wife likes to have her iPad 3 at 100% brightness nearly all the time, even inside. Whenever I pick it up I feel like my eyes are gonna burn! Luckily it's a quick shortcut to change the brightness on the iPad.
Another complaint: the fast app switch on the iPhone when swiping left to right has volume slider. Why? I have volume buttons on the side! Why can't it be a brightness slider, like the iPad has!
