For me, personally, yes! I’m a photographer and videographer. I rely on my MacBook a lot. Also, my favorite MacBook was always the 17” pro, so this is as close as we’re gonna get to that size haha.

I'd love it if Apple did a 17 or even an 18. 17 is probably too close to the 16. But it would be easy to sell as a Pro model. They could add battery or other stuff with the additional space.

and the no screen upgrade doesn't make you want to wait? being a photographer and all, what if they come out with a better display next year or 2021? Id imagine your 2018 is plenty fine for what you do and this wouldn't really help it if at all besides the .5" screen increase which isn't a great huge change.

They really need to and I think they understand the market for those sized laptops could be a huge deal again ESPECIALLY if the display is top of the line like the new monitor they have. Micro led display and larger screen that's substation( not this half an inch increase) would make actual pros that want a really good display on a laptop buy these up quickly.
The last time they had the 17" the display tech wasn't all that great back then and they could really bring a larger laptop into slimmer design and make it still portable.
Id sell my 15" for this yes yes

I bought a MacBook Pro in late 2017. I've had it for 2 years and I haven't had any issues with the butterfly keyboard....but I think that is because when I bought it I put one of those plastic keyboard covers on it immediately. My previous MacBook keys would get super dirty fast so I didn't want to have to deal with cleaning the keys or them looking dirty. I didn't even realize there was a dust issue on the butterfly keyboards when I put that plastic cover thingy on it. lol

But yeah, maybe putting that cover on 2 years ago saved my keyboard.

Yes, I am keeping my 2019 15" MBP, not even a question in my mind. I love it...it's a beautiful and fast laptop that I never get tired of using. I do covet the new keyboard, but that's OK, I'll save up to get the 2021 16" MBP, which by then will have a few more bells and whistles, so to speak (e.g., WiFi 6, next gen CPU, possibly upgraded display). In the meantime I have an awesome machine that is nearly the equivalent to the new 16", and is entirely paid for.

This!

I sold my 2018 a while ago and went back to using my 2015 Model. The main reason was the keyboard. No matter how much I tried to convince myself that I liked the butterfly keyboard, I just didn’t. It was an uncomfortable typing experience for me and I just couldn’t adapt to it.

The only other issue I had was temperature. It would get really hot under even the slightest load which drive me nuts. I could do the same task with the 2015 model (albeit much slower) and while the fan would rev up it would never get close to being as hot as the 2018.

If the keyboard and thermal issues are fixed with this newest model it will be the Laptop I’ve been waiting to upgrade for).
