Anyone know how to install Ubuntu in Parallels from the disc?

Ive found 100 different sites that show how to install from the iso, but I had them send me the discs which I just got today. When I start the virtual machine it says something like "no boot device available, press enter to continue." Can you not install from the disc like you can with Windows?

You have to change the boot sequence so that the CD-ROM loads first. That or pick the disc image of Ubuntu as your CD-ROM.

cdrom is set as first boot sequence. You cant select the cd under the disc image option either. There is no iso image on the disc.

Make sure it's the right version of Ubuntu. They make an x86, x86 64-bit, and PPC. If you have the wrong one, you won't be able to install it.

I got it. Instead of using the mac disc I used the pc disc. Installed but its totally unusable. I only have 512mb ram, but come on. I can use XP without much problem, but I could barely move the mouse around in Ubuntu.

Oh well, another failed attempt to try out Linux. I realize its not really any fault of Ubuntu but I would have thought it would run at least as well as XP inside parallels.

This question is answered in the Parallels FAQ:

About halfway down.

Also, the PPC version of Ubuntu wouldn't work on an intel mac, as the intel mac isn't a PPC machine, it's x86.
