Here's a link with some steps to do that, with other possible apps that you can try out. Some free, others with a trial period. https://maestrasuite.com/blogs/how-to-transcribe-audio-to-text-on-mac

I tried dictation on the iPad it does not work with safari and Apple note app. I think because it wants to record from the mike not the audio playing.

BrianBaughn macrumors G3 Feb 13, 2011 9,892 2,527 Baltimore, Maryland Mar 20, 2023 #6 YouTube has a closed-caption (CC) button for most of the videos I see on there. The question isn't really about "audio sound input" and that seems to be throwing responders off. I don't know how well this works because my iPhone is too old: Get live captions of spoken audio on iPhone On iPhone, see live captions to more easily follow the audio in any app, such as FaceTime or Podcasts, and in live conversations around you. support.apple.com Reactions: MacCheetah3

If you are talking about settings, accessibility and subtitles and capturing than with close caption option than does not appear to work in the app. I think only some apps support it.
