Why don't you try right-clicking it and see what comes up.

thanks for the quick reply. as i said, nothing pops up when i left click or right click it. so.... this is really weird...

the icon has this S shape with a little guy in front of it...

🙁 i really hope someone will help me figure out what this icon is....

Have you a printer? If so, does the computer know you have a printer installed?

Mine tells me about the status - and otherwise among other matters - of my printer.

Have you installed any Apps recently? Check your Applications folder and see if there are any icons that look similiar to what you have on your menu bar. Maybe restore from a TM backup if you have any and see if it goes away.
