Anyone know why Mobile Me double my contacts last names?

I don't use the first/last name fields, I organize everything by first name. So I have Fred Flinstone in first name, and last name is blank.

When I send out emails, and sometimes just randomly, Mobile me will update people's contact info on my phone and both of my computers. It adds a last name so it would show up as "Fred Flinstone Flinstone"

Why is this, and how do I get it to stop?

I don't know why it's happening, but I'd guess that in the sync process it's "correcting" entries where the last name field is blank. The fix is to actually use the last name field as designed; both Address Book and Contacts have the ability to sort and display based on first or last name as desired.
