I built a Hackintosh around 2017 which was a cool project but in the end I spent more time getting hardware to work than actually being productive. Plus there were a lot of sacrifices on the MacOS side of things.
This is why I love proxmox - everything works. icloud, air drop, time machine, iphone mirroring, MULTIPLE GPU PASSTHROUGH. I think the only thing I haven't tried is target disk mode.

Eh. I'm not a big gamer but I like Lego and Tropico games. Games I can just kind of sit back, relax, and spend a day on when I need to unwind and really don't have anything to do.

I ran into an issue though when OS X went 64bit. There's a Lego Indiana Jones Adventures that I haven't been able to play for a long time due to this. I recently dug it out since I also pulled out my iMac G4 but it's Intel only.

I may be off about the 32/64 bit thing but I believe there's a very slim selection of Macs that can play this game.

Crossover will run the windows version of the Legos Indiana Jones adventures.

I don't really miss it, as in I still have an iMac 2017 27" with Radeon 580 to suit my Windows gaming stuff.... i.e. the classic games I still enjoy that need Windows (think of Half Life 2, Euro Truck Sim 2.. although available on macOS, you need the Windows version to be able to use a wheel well) and for the rest having fun with Grid Legends, X-Plane 12 on my Mac Studio.

But, I do miss the fun and flexibility of being able to Boot Camp.
Back in the early Intel days, I was so amazed at what my Mac Pro 3.1 with upgraded grfx cards was capable of....!

Hello.

Perhaps it depends on which games you play? For example, I still play Windows games on my old white MacBook, the last model. Otherwise, if I play anything at all, it's only old DOS games that were released by Apogee Software back then, running under DOSBox.

Otherwise, the only other person I can think of is my cousin, who told me he bought a used PC for €50 so he could play games on it. That particular game is only available for Windows.

Have you ever tried Boxer? I think DOXBox was its backend but it had a nice UI. I think I had an issue with a save file so I didn't bother with either.

One time, I think.

Best thing at Dosbox is that you are able to modify the configuration for your needs and hardware. My old MacBook Pro needed a different configuration file than the iMac. It was just running slow, if not changed. Especially the line with the string "output" was very tricky to understand and to find the correct value. By default it's "surface" but it simply doesn't work properly on the MacBook or iMac. I don't know.

And the DOSBox.conf is nothing more than an INI file in DOS/Windows or plist (old format).
