Dude, I'm from Czech Republic. The lines of people that waited just to get bananas or oranges are legendary. Everytime my grandma says that socialism was better I always roll my eyes.
You guys had bananas and oranges? We got those on around Christmas and I remember that they were from Cuba, at least oranges (at least we were told they were from there) and they were sour and small lol. I have allergic reaction to word socialism lol.

I guess im the minority but doing it for the first few iphones and then the X with my cousin and brother was always a fun experience. Plus it was a day off of work haha

I don't know about oranges but you could get bananas during the year. If you stood in the line long enough. I heard from my parents and grandparents about oranges on Christmas though. I was born 3 years after the Velvet Revolution so I only heard about these things and the sour taste and bad memories on that evil regime are still very much alive here as it's in Poland too I'm sure. I remember seeing news reporting from that time some years ago about a small supply of "exotic" fruits and people didn't know what kiwi was. That scared me. I really don't understand why mainly elderly people think that those were better times. Too much Americans don't know what's coming for them in the name of "liberalism". All people from post Soviet countries can see that very clearly.

This is from the iPhone 4 Launch in 2010. That year... I got my iPhone delivered 2 days early... so I had the iPhone 4... recording at the iPhone 4 in person launch. I met up with my cousin, because I snagged an extra reservation... so I was letting him use it to get his iPhone. The funny thing is that I happened to wear a blue t-shirt... and the apple employees were wearing blue shirts... so here I am with an iPhone 4 in my hands... a blue shirt... and people thought I worked for Apple... and kept approaching me asking to play with the phone. 🤣
My body can’t stop shaking after witnessing the camera shake on this video

I was thinking about this last night. I’d go to bed early Thursday night and get up and head to the store at the mall and line up. And wait for like 6 hours. It was boring but kinda funny at the same time.
Yes, I do. It was a fun social experience waiting in the long line that snaked down Boylston Street in Boston’s Back Bay. It was a lot less efficient, but efficiency is definitely not everything.

I do wax nostalgic sometimes for these days, no matter what the device. I still remember camping out in front of my local Sprint store for the HTC EVO 4G and feel like there Ian something missing from the process these days. That being said I will gladly take an online reservation and launch day pickup/home delivery over the overnight camp out.

Not really I still have PTSD from lining up the night before for iPhone 6 Plus only to be told they had 5 phones in stock
Waited overnight for a 7 Plus and the next morning they said they have zero Plus phones in stock.
Coulda put a paper sign on the door the night before…..

Never waited in line for phone. But I don't want to wait in line for anything. Back in good old days of communism in Poland I spent enough time in lines waiting for hours for toilet paper and other basic supplies...
And here is image of somebody lucky enough to score toilet paper.

And in mid 2020, most of suburban America would've been trying to figure out the location or the photo (either from metadata or - old-school - just from eyeballing the background) and then frantically tapping the coordinates into their iPhones! :)
