With dozens of millions of buyers every year you’ll likely not be the only one with that thought process - but how many likeminded people you’ll find here I’m not sure.

I really like the Pro Max and it has a longer battery and the larger screen which can be easier to see. However, it is causing me hand discomfort when holding for extended periods.

I am! There’s two really good reasons I love the Pro Max: display size and battery. Otherwise, it’s a very cumbersome phone and I’m excited to be going back to a smaller phone.

The fact that the 12 Pro will be 6.1” is even more of an incentive. I’ll be losing a little bit of screen size but not as much as if I were stepping down to the 5.8” that is on the iPhone 11 Pro. And the fact that the iPhone 12 Pro will be even smaller than the iPhone XR/11 (due to bezel reduction) is an added bonus.

And the latest rumors say we’ll see battery improvements thanks to the A14 chip, so that should offset moving to the smaller model.

The only thing I will lament is not having the better camera but that’s a compromise I’m willing to make for a phone that’s more ergonomic. The camera on the 11 Pro Max is already excellent as it is, and the 12 Pro will have an even better one, so it’s still an upgrade to look forward to.

I’m considering it. My work phone is a iPhone X and personal phone is XS Max. I do enjoy the larger screen and battery life of the Max but sometimes I feel like its too big and find myself using the X more.

A lot of people have made the move from Max to Pro around here, some have even gone to SE, I believe this is why Apple has a 5.4inch iPhone 12 coming, a lot of people discovering that the Max is not for them.

I think the only thing you MAY lose out on is the outstanding battery life of a Max, certainly the 11 Pro Max has set an incredibly high bar in iPhone Land for battery life, so you may take a slight step backwards in that regard but that’s it.

If I upgrade this year, I will likely go to one of the 6.1” models. I would even consider the mini if battery life weren’t a limiting factor (battery life has been amazing on the 11 Max). I need to see the big model before considering it, not sure I want to go even bigger and heavier.

Maybe you should try the loopy case. Maybe that would help. I went from pro max to pro just because the pro was too heavy.
