Hi

I am wondering if their will be enough reason to upgrade the X to an XS? I have no interest in the plus or Max. PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND IF YOU ARE UPGRADING TO THE XS MAX (XS PLUS).

I plan on it. I like my X and I like the size but I'd be lying to myself if I said I wasn't missing the width that the X sacrificed so I will be getting a "max".

I just continue to become more and more impressed with the X as time goes on. And with iOS 12 releasing this month I’m excited as I feel it will be just about perfect then.

I don’t have a huge desire to upgrade to the XS from the rumors discovered so far. And the max is only 5.5” when watching 16:9 videos and the Plus videos aren’t that much bigger than the 5” videos on the X. What I’m saying is the iPhone X is the perfect smartphone for me and I’m sad they are going to be killing it off this year but I understand why.

Yep. I usually upgrade for the camera alone. I know its not a huge upgrade for most people, but I'm a decent photographer and having been using my phone camera more than I use my FF DSLR nowadays. The X takes amazing pictures and I'm looking forward to what the XS can do. Easy to justify it in that realm of things as a good full frame lens can cost $3000 now, so $300-400 a year for a decent camera upgrade that you have with you at all times isn't too bad. Would be awesome if they finally increased the sensor size.

Also have to say the rumors of the $800 starting price had a part in the decision as well. If that is true then it made sense just from a depreciation standpoint. I sold mine for a little under that.

I take very few photos. Camera upgrade is nice, but not critical.

I am going to upgrade if it has 5G radios inside but have to wait for the "unlocked" version to be release probably around December and I usually buy it in late January early February when there are few customers at the Apple store! I not sure about the two different sizes; but I think of getting the 6.5" model this time around. It much more pricey but everyone seems to be carrying around a large size smartphone now a days. But I really like the 5.8" form factor too! I have to see both and play around with them both. I have lots of time to decide. Samsung Galaxy and Note 10s and next generation Pixel will be offering 5G capabilities. Apple usually waits a year or two because the cost and royalties go down as the technology become common place since the cost is suppose to be $15 more per unit then 4G radios.

Does what other people are doing really matter, especially since the phones haven’t even been unveiled yet? Watch next week’s presentation and decide based on that.

Nope no reason for me to. It’s gonna be basically the exact same phone. I’ll wait til 2019 then decide on iphone or Samsung.

Tried an X and really liked it earlier in the year. Perfect size.
Have a Pixel 2XL and new job allows me to get a second phone.
If the XS has improved it camera even more, and kept everything else ergonomically the same, then a no brainer.
But if Apple or its retailers really drop the price of the X when the XS comes out (can't see that happening) though, getting a new X may be the way I go.

Can we keep this thread to those who are only considering the XS and NOT THE PLUS?

Considering the iPhone titles have not been determined, not every member knows the differences between the X/XS, ect. So naturally they will reply with what model they want bade off your *thread title*. You might want to add in your opening post you want to eliminate the ‘Max’ from the discussion, since that’s the first post everyone will see.

No, on the basis of the rumours I’d say it clearly isn’t worth upgrading from the first gen X to the standard XS. It is looking like it will be an extremely limited upgrade from the X, probably the smallest difference between any 2 consecutive iPhones. Come to think of it, are there actually any differences apart from that MIMO thing, whatever that is lol

Even coming from the 7 it is questionable tbh, let alone an X. I imagine the majority of people who upgrade from the X will do so to the XS plus, as that model appeals to the “must have it because it’s the most expensive one” crowd

I'll be upgrading from the X to the XS.

No other reason than I want to really. I like technology, and have had every iPhone since the original. :)

Same here, but I'm very sceptical this year. Let's see what iPhone XS will offer...

I'm in the same boat. If the only upgrade is the A12 chip, I won't bother.

I'm hoping for 'faster' wireless charging, better camera, improved FaceID, better battery, faster LTE.

I think the x and Xs will be nearly identical! Personally I never liked the X (too small) will go Max. but can just like any s year that means non significant upgrade..

I will only upgrade if they improve Face ID and make it faster to get to the home screen. That’s the only thing that bothers me about the X. I’m pretty happy with it now that I’m on iOS 12. iOS 11 was pretty much crap on the X.

I do plan on upgrading regardless, but I completely agree with your point about Face ID. This is a crucial experience with Face ID being improved upon in various area’s, and I’m really hoping over everything that will be introduced on Wednesday, Face ID will be revised in some form or away which Apple will discuss hopefully. I know everyone appreciates other software and hardware features like the camera, OLED display, etc., but none of that really matters to me, as the real factor behind iPhone X is not the new form factor, but its Face ID and Apple’s future with it.
